  1. Best of luck to him. Difficult not to give him the job after the the last two results. Hope the players keep giving him the same effort. Massive two games coming up for his season.
  2. Hammell’s next gig is more likely to be at St Mirren than Motherwell. He took a chance. It never worked out. He owes the Club nothing else and vice versa. Time to let him go.
  3. Great team performance. Unless McCann has been utterly outstanding during the interview process it’s Kettlewell until the end of the season for me.
  4. Frankie, whilst still an outstanding comedian imo, has done everything to be appear to be more inclusive, a supporter of female comedians and so on over the last few years. Not sure if it was the backlash over his Katie Price material, a fear that his future income would be massively impacted or he didn’t like the public’s general opinion of him. I think I’d rather watch ten of Susie McCabe’s sets than five minutes of Sara Pascoe. She is the absolute definition of an individual that decided one day they were going to be a stand up comedian and have winged it without any of the talent or wit. Never heard anyone say they have watched her, found her funny, told one of her jokes, laughed at anything she had said or bought a ticket to one of her gigs, yet she seems to be never aff the tele.
  5. Aye……..I do. Some error that. McCabe is at least into football.
  6. It could be Every now again there is a wee hint that they are scunnered with each other. To be honest four hours a week for over 25 years…..it probably isn’t a surprise they are repeating themselves or bugging each other. I still enjoy tuning in from time to time but then I’ll hear a couple of anecdotes I’ve heard a dozen times before or it’ll seem like the same guest is on all the time…….nae offence to Susan Calman but she never seems to be off it at times…..and it’ll put me off it for a few months. Then rinse and repeat
  7. He’s quick witted and good with a line but, like Cosgrove, you can hear a slightly ‘pissed aff’ tone in his voice if someone catches him with a belter. Although nothing beats a few years back when Cosgrove took the utter huff and sulked for an entire Saturday show when Tam pulled him up as an example of someone who is very obviously well connected/high up in the media world but tries at times to come across like someone who has just rocked in aff the terraces and onto a microphone. To be fair to Cosgrove he has always openly discussed his career and interests and he has achieved a great deal……I just think they get on each other’s tits quite a bit at times.
  8. Haha, yes. Pretty sure I witnessed that as well. Woman, her husband and grandson were at every single game home and away. Might have been Craigan of all folk that squinted it although it seems odd that he was taking shots in the warmup!
  9. My problem with the show is no matter how long you haven’t listened to it, if you do switch on you are never far away from one of Tam’s well worn anecdotes; - The Motherwell fan nipping to the toilet before leaving the ground in the 6-6 game, the ‘Well scoring and said fan going back to his seat. - Woman in the chippy using the scoop to lift up a dug’s shite. - Alex Salmond not knowing who Accies’ fan Fergie was when informed of his passing. - Jose Quintongo drapping the ‘C’ bomb. - Paul Daniels saving him in Blackpool. - Meeting a Gallagher brother in a restaurant in Glasgow. I’ve heard these stories, and many others, so many times it has become more like visiting an elderly relative with dementia than listening to a national radio show. Maybe, I’ve just been unlucky when I’ve tuned in! Cosgrove not without his issues but isn’t on repeat imo as much as Cowan.
  10. I hadn’t realised Dun Utd have a game in hand on us, Killie and County. Need to have fingers crossed for a few results to go our way today for a wee bit less pressure tomorrow. Out of the four teams in the mire we have the hardest fixture this weekend.
  11. I agree it’s a tough game and an unfair barometer but another 3-0 or worse reverse at home won’t dampen the fires in the support. We can all figure out the criticisms levelled at the board and Kettlewell already. Would take 0-0 and a point right now.
  12. Is it the general understanding that Jim Goodwin didn’t apply? His name was all over it then nothing. Possibly a bit sickened by his time at Aberdeen that he feels it is too soon to jump straight in to a relegation battle that if he loses he’d struggle for another decent job again. Kettlewell clearly has the Hearts game and I’m okay with that. If we win I’d expect him to get the job to the summer. A draw he has a chance. A towelling and it could be a new manager on Monday morning.
  13. Anyone notice Van Veen (I think) being a total shithouse to Carson after Johnston’s goal? Every fighting team needs an arsehole like that.
  14. He’s got to think of himself first…….so I’d imagine he’ll be raging. If we do stay up his stock will fall that wee bit further imo and whoever keeps us in the top flight looks pretty canny.
  15. Lovely. Good couple of goals. Seemed to be tons of effort out there as well but I’ll admit I feared the worst at halftime. No rushed managerial decisions need to be made but if we beat Hearts on Sunday, I’d also make Kettlewell head of North Lanarkshire Cooncil.
  16. Sod it. Lets give all the usual suspects one game each. Kettlewell tonight. Hughes against Hearts on Sunday. Wright in to do Killie the following week. Ross in against Dundee Utd. Goodwin against Aberdeen. Absolute revolutionary boardroom decision making. It’ll either be a new business model that all Clubs will adopt from next season or we will be so far behind we’ll be relegated by Easter*. *The latter.
  17. If Wright was going to get the job it should have been when Robinson left. In fact, I was convinced it was his job. The fact he took Killie straight down and was struggling to get them back up should be just enough of a concern for us to paperclip his application to McPake’s in a folder marked ‘Recently achieved what we are desperately trying to avoid’. Literally a Brian Rice tabloid shout away from relegation bingo.
  18. That’s just as much for ‘us’ as it is ‘them’. Quite bloody right though.
  19. Sacking a manager after a win is always an odd look. Criticised for it at the time if I remember but the McGhee appointment never helped. At the very least it showed Motherwell don’t have a monopoly on cronyism.
  20. I don’t see it. Struggled in our very position exactly a year ago. I know it was McGhee that took them down with, IIRC, one win during his tenure but I don’t believe McPake would have kept them up if he had stayed in post either.
  21. What’s the general expectation here for the new appointment………in the dugout for the game against Hearts or away to Killie? Unless it’s a towelling tomorrow night, I think Kettlewell likely gets the two games. I suppose any kind of defeat against St Mirren would make things a bit ‘awkward’ shall we say on Sunday.
  22. It does help when Motherwell have a vacancy it is currently the ‘best available job in the country’ football wise. A couple of times that hasn’t been the case. With Aberdeen also rudderless, Lambert’s attention/hopes might be elsewhere. Who can blame him. I could see that move happening. Likewise, I can also see John Hughes recalibrating his intentions as well now we are on the hunt. Regardless of it actually happening he is more likely to be our new gaffer than Aberdeens. I also expect us to announce a manager long before them as well. They have the luxury of time on their side and might even get away with Robson until the end of next month.
  23. I know the Ipswich fans were utterly scunnered with him at the end. When he was brought up on Sportsound it was with the belief that he will be a very wealthy man and doesn’t need the work as much as many or even all of the other potential candidates do. I have no doubt he *would* have commanded the respect of the dressing room as not one of them will achieve a tenth of what he has……but issue perhaps is his own motivation. How does he fancy a relegation battle at this level and potentially a shot at the second tier up here after what he has been used to? Two years out of the game and his options will be decreasing though. He might wish in a year or two he was more open to the prospect. I doubt he’ll ever reach the levels he was previously at.
  24. Some of the above names on that list would give you the fear followed by the dry boak. Was convinced it was Goodwin the minute Aberdeen sacked him although now less certain. Lambert would have been great but probably pie in the sky stuff. I have so little faith in the those running the Club I’m half expecting the announcement of David Goodwillie as player/manager and the revelation that Netflix have had a camera crew in Fir Park for the last 18 months.
