This is a big season for Dowds - can maybe give him some leeway last season for transition to new team / style and bit part role given form of Graham. There seemed to be something there at points last season, but it was clear Doolan didn’t trust him in the playoff games when you’d like to think he’d be a good option for fresh legs.

either way, on our budget I can’t see us bringing in another #9 unless we let him go. A winger to cover Lawless / Fitz, and maybe another attacking midfielder (unless that role goes to Mackenzie)

This is why I doubt the Rudden rumours unless Dowds is getting moved on. If we are continuing with the 4-2-3-1 then I can’t see the point of having 3 senior strikers on starting wages.

I also think that we need at least one winger. With Tiff gone, we’ve only really got Fitzpatrick with real pace so I’d like to see a quick player signed for cover on the wing.

  2. If Williamson and Kerr are signed, then to me it looks like we are still missing cover for either side at full back, another winger and a centre half at the very least.

I wonder if the likes of Stevenson and Stanway will be loaned out for week in week out first team experience or if they will be kept around as squad cover.

How has this absolute farce with Lesser come about? Who decided on the ridiculous, stupid layout? It's so short sighted and limiting and seems to go against everything else your club is saying.

Is the plan is to use Hampden anyway, what was the point in redeveloping Lesser, especially the ludicrous royal box monstrosity?

Haughey funds the redevelopment of the Lesser Hampden complex, after having stumped up £2.5 million to help the SFA buy Hampden outright.

QP then allow the Scotland national team to use Lesser as the new training complex, while the SFA allow QP to use Hampden proper for their league matches. Should QP get promoted, they will absolutely rake it in from 3/4 visits from the uglies per season.

it’s a convenient way to solve a lot of the SFA’s problems with Haughey’s money, and also gives QP as potentially huge financial advantage.

I think this was the plan all along, and Lesser was always going to be primarily a training complex for the national team.

Hotel booked in Cologne and Bonn. Has anyone been to either of them? Got decent prices on digs at these

I have some German friends who tell me Bonn is nice/pretty for a short tourist visit and has a great museum but is really boring in terms of bars and nightlife.

I also have a free cancellation place booked in Bonn as it’s got good links to the Rhine/Ruhr host cities (20 minutes train to Cologne) and is also only about 90 minutes from Frankfurt. It also seems to be far cheaper than some of the actual host cities like Dusseldorf.

  5. I am finding most of the accommodation in the Rhine/Rhuhr area western cities to be extremely expensive and quite hard to come by already.

Managed to find a place for 10 in Dusseldorf at around 300 pound a head for the first week, but it’s already nearly doubled in price since I booked it last week. Seriously considering looking for a place in a nearby town/city that’s not hosting any games and just travelling in for the game if we need.

Hamburg and Berlin are looking a lot better in terms of price/accommodation, but I’ll still need somewhere in the west with free cancellation for the 2nd week in case we end up playing there.
