  1. Did you go to sleep before the end or something? A really good game last night, some of the best goaltending I've ever seen from both, Kiprusoff made possibly the best save I've ever seen although Wellwood shouldn't have given him a chance. We've bounced back in style, the players are talking about making a run for the Division but I can't quite see it happening. The god in my signature (Ryan Kesler) is having an unbelievable run, 9 goals in 8 for someone who most thought was no better than a third liner.
  2. Pens have fired Therrien. Pretty shocked by this, I know they're having a terrible year considering the talent they have at their disposal but the push for Hossa has ended up costing them a bit this year along with a general Stanley Cup hangover. Thought he deserved more time but then I've not been following it that closely. PS Canucks beat Habs 4-2
  3. Canucks beat the Blackhawks 7-3 on Saturday night. Sundin is hitting his game now on a new line and Luongo is getting back to his best. Should be able to string enough results together to make playoffs.
  4. Shout it from the rooftops, the Canucks actually won a game back in the mix thanks to a 4-3 win over Hurricanes.
  5. Christ I wish I could be like you. Livi fans have enough to worry about without you jumping about shouting "I told you so." Forgive the guy for not immediately being cynical and heaven forbid actually showing some optimism because they signed one of the best centre halves around at this level.
  6. 1-5-4 in the last 10, lost 7 on the bounce. Sundin and Luongo both in now, can only hope we are gelling for a late surge. First round playoffs at best beckons.
  7. Deservedly out in 5 to Verdasco, hopefully this will calm a little of the hype.
  8. I wish I was getting more credit in this debate. I'm correct, I merely delegated to a more respected poster to go into the point in greater depth. I agree with Stewarty though, apart from the fact that SD has proved it numerous times, we'll never be able to prove it so we should just stop.
  9. I'm afraid I'm right and SD is backing me up, grazie.
  10. My point is not based on no race list or whatever, mine is on the same facts as yours, but I still disagree. I think we should give up, but since SD is on my side (the good one) I am claiming victory.
  11. This one. If Murray has more race points than Nadal at the start of the U.S. Open, he will be above him in the world rankings. If Murray is beating everyone in the race at the start of the U.S. Open, he will be world no 1. Anyway more on the actual tennis, I do agree with Federer that Murray should not be favourite for the U.S.
  12. I'm giving up SD, it's all yours. Edit just to add these two quotes just in case you manage to convince Stewarty.
  13. We'll have to agree to differ on this one If Murray is winning the 2009 Race come the start of the U.S. Open, he will be World No. 1.
  14. Stewarty I may be off the mark on this one but I'm sure come the end of the year the race points standings (even if the points are different) are exactly the same as the Rankings standings since all your points are based on the last 12 months. If Murray is leading from the U.S. Open until now and gains enough race points between now and the 2009 U.S. starting to maintain his current lead from these figures, he will be number one going into the U.S.
  15. Points since beginning of U.S. Open 1) Murray 4,000 pts 2) Federer 3,490 pts 3) Djorkovic 2,740 pts 4) Nadal 1,600 pts Interesting. Obviously Nadal will pick up a lot over the clay court season but if Murray can do better than him at the Aussie and Wimbledon and achieve similar results to Federer he could quite easily be number one going in to the U.S. I know that's a lot to achieve and holding on to that position would be difficult, but it's great that we look like having a sustained period of good quality competition at the top after such long spells of Sampras and Federer dominance.
  16. Dismantled Roddick 6-4 6-2 in the final, it was fun to watch in almost a cruel way today, the vast majority of players in the world just have no idea what to do to beat Murray, he's really got that mental edge now that Djokovic arguably doesn't have in half beating his opponents before they step on court a la Federer or Nadal. I'm most intrigued this season though to see how he steps up on clay.
  17. I agree with DomDom. Although it's an opportunity lost for any of the big four if they don't win a major, this time Murray goes into the tournament with some justification for thinking he is the favourite, which is testament to an unbelievable rise in the last 6 months which not even those who really believe in him (apart from maybe himself) could have expected. I still would have him marginally behind Federer if only for the U.S. Open result and experience at the business end of slams, but I'd have him above Nadal and Djokovic at the moment. Edited to add: in terms of the Aussie Open, not world terms before anyone slaughters me. Although I do think he is better than Djokovic full stop, Djokovic I think still has his number to an extent. Nadal is struggling physically at the moment a little bit and this is his weakest surface.
  18. He's Canadian too, eh? What was the Prince of Wales incident? I missed that.
  19. The fans get out of it what they put in, it's their own fault. The NHL wont give up this system because it's ridiculously lucrative for them. The All Star game is now a joke and I suspect it's being seen more and more that way by the players too.
  20. You, Zanetti and Jim. Was looking for info on past standings at specific times and found this site which has a phenomenal amount of info about hockey and all the other US sports.
  21. Cheers mate, I'll now need to try and avoid the temptation until after finals.
  22. What's going on with the Pens? Having a bit of a shocker at the moment, shame as they are my 2nd team in the East.
