  1. Well it's a good night for Carey Price, questions were asked of him and boy has he answered them, Go Habs! Good to see to that Ovechkin has come good just when it was required of him, momentum is with them now.
  2. No, please no. Gerber isn't a good enough replacement as starting goaltender and Sanford is a decent backup, if we are losing Luono we sure as hell need to be looking for more than Spezza and Gerber, we need goals, and someone capable of minimum 40 goals a season, not convinced Spezza is there yet.
  3. Flyers should have too much for the Capitals unfortunately, and even though the momentum is with Boston, Habs really should be too good for them at home, Carey Price doesn't fill me with confidence though, he will be a great goaltender for years, but this is the kind of game that could break him.
  4. Always happy to see the Flames lose, brings some joy back to a bad day after the Habs and Caps lost and I failed an exam.
  5. DB62 starts word without capital letter!! The P&B community will be shaken to its core.
  6. You have two of the best players in the NHL in attack, but a weak defence, basically. So now you know.
  7. I know there was a previous NHL thread but it's a long way away and I can't search for it as NHL has less than 4 letters So who do we think looks good so far? Obviously Pens looked pretty good destroying Ottawa, but they were on their way down anyway. The Rangers have been decent but they've owned the Devils all season, and if Avery wins the SC I'll be devastated. I'm mainly a West Coast follower though and nobody over here really looks like doing it if I'm honest, Sharks and Red Wings have been disappointing so far, so I'd back Penguins or the Habs to win it, hopefully the Habs, as long as it isn't the Rangers, Flyers or fucking Flames.
  8. Is it just me or is There Will Be Blood going to compete with Scarface for most overrated film ever?
  9. Blades of Glory - Some decent acting and the occasional good line can't save the fact this film is tediously predictable and has Will Ferrell in it. 4/10
  10. Canucks are building up a bit of momentum, take on the Wild tonight to go top of the Northwest, which is their only chance of progressing past round 1 of the playoffs I think, unless we get 6th which also gives us a chance, can't afford 4,5 or 7th but could maybe catch the Redwings cold if we finish 8th. I'm now convinced we will make the playoffs, which probably means they will screw it up somehow.
  11. He's a top class actor, don't understand some of the abuse he takes. 24 Hour Party People To be honest this could have been done so much better. I'm a big Partridge fan and thought Steve Coogan was a good choice for the role, but whether it was the writing or him it just didn't work for me. Probably because I care more about Joy Division than I ever will about any other part of the movie. Actually quite liked the regular updates Coogan gives in real time, but the rest of the movie, in attempting to portray the madness of the 'Madchester' scene, just gets lost in amongst itself and falls over itself too often for my liking. A decent movie, fun spotting minor UK TV celebrities with some good acting but poor writing/direction pulls it down to 4/10 Still, at least it reminded me to go out and get Control.
  12. Went to my first game a few weeks back. Canucks v Blue Jackets, nothing too glamorous but my Thistle luck must have rubbed off on them, Canucks 2-0 after 2 and with a 22-0-0 record when winning after 2 periods, lost 3-2 in overtime.
  13. Just hoping the Canucks can scrape into the playoffs this year, need to punt Naslund or at least half his wages for next year. I think we will just scrape in, Luongo and the Sedin brothers will carry us there. As for tips for the title, the Sharks are on form but I don't think they have quite the quality to go all the way, the Senators do but haven't shown it consistently enough. I'd like to see the Devils do it but at the moment I'd be sticking my cash on the Canadiens.
  14. Best match I've ever seen Murray play, unbelievable.
  15. A History of Violence Interesting, but never really gripping and not enough substance to get away with that. Too many plot holes and not enough action and a weak ending. Very overrated. 5/10
  16. Over the last couple of nights Edward Scissorhands Depp is good, but once he has the innocent, confused expression mastered he has nailed his role in this. Has some of the trademark Burton style, but not enough to make an otherwise very mediocre film enjoyable in the way so many of his other films are. 4/10 V for vandetta Stunning film, quite beautifully shot. Little in the way of complex acting required, although Tim Piggot-Smith I feel deserves a mention, but the dialogue and visuals are simply sublime. And it has Natalie Portman, possibly the only woman that can still look amazing with a shaved head. Has to challenge Sin City as my favourite graphic novel/comic adaptation of all time, certainly more in the way of substance than Sin City had. 9/10
  17. Bananafishbones - Guineapix. Quite possibly the most ridiculous and yet undeniably amazing song ever.
  18. Just finished One Good Turn by Kate Atkinson. Terrible book, I honestly can't understand the reviews it has been getting. Characterisation is weak, the plot jumps around a lot, I suppose to try and keep you interested and cover the many characters but it only serves to stall any sort of momentum she builds up. Poorly written and at times I wonder if she had an editor at all, and to top it all off it comes to an unsatisfying conclusion. You have to suspend reality numerous times to be able to continue reading and to stop you tearing the book to shreds in frustration, only read it as I had got half way through on the plane from Glasgow to Vancouver and thought given the good reviews it was going to pick up at some point. If you are about to start it or are even in the middle of it and pursuing it for this reason, don't bother, utter shite. Now for The Damned United by David Peace, which better be a damn sight better.
  19. Etienne De Crecy - Punk www.myspace.com/etiennedecrecy
  20. Boulerice is a scumbag and has previous in this department from the minor leagues, hopefully won't see much NHL ice time for the rest of his career.
