  1. Remember that incident being covered at the time. Other footage showed that Roy jr. didn't actually look that interested in fighting until senior started screaming at him, and that's when he breaks from the ref and goes for it. Two on the bounce for the Canucks, three at home to follow including the Av's and the Maple Leafs. Should be interesting.
  2. Canucks pick themselves up after a disappointing home loss to the Bruins to win 4-0 in L.A. then a game of the season contender last night as the Canucks came from 2-0 down to lead 5-2 in Anaheim, only for the Ducks to get it back to 5-5 and then equalise again with less than a minute to go for 6-6, before the Canucks finally triumphed 2-1 in the 13th round of the shootout.
  3. He was injured a lot last year and never looked up to it when he did play, wasn't sad to see him go in the summer.
  4. Also, in terms of outlasting him, Nadal's game takes far more out of him physically than Murray's, and he has been playing at this level for a few more years. I'd be very surprised if Murray does not outlast Nadal as a top 10 player.
  5. Nadal's dominance of the clay court season will continue and the addition of the Madrid Masters to that will make it difficult, but I think Murray has the ability to surpass Nadal on hard and grass. The way he's been serving over the last few months will make him a much bigger threat on grass in the future and his whole game has come on leaps and bounds since Wimbledon. The year between him and Nadal is somewhat irrelevant. Nadal is physically phenomenal and has been for a number of years. Murray is now beginning to hit his physical peak and has shown that he is a match for Nadal away from clay in this respect. He needs to up his clay game to be in contention for semi and final places (he'll never match Nadal) but if he can do this there really is no reason why he can't be number one at some point over the next 5 or 6 years, he's as well placed as anyone. Nadal isn't as invincible off clay as he is made out to be, he has worked phenomenally hard to adapt at Wimbledon but he is still susceptible to a guy having a great day serving, as Murray has proved he can do. On hard courts his record is (all things being relative of course) even poorer, Murray's already gone further at the US than Nadal has, and he should be looking to do the same at the Australian, which is shaping up as the most open GS in years (again relatively speaking).
  6. Canucks got a 6-3 victory at home to the Oilers last night that was pretty much vital already, keeping us in touch in what is always the tightest division in the NHL. Still getting too little from our top line, thought Bernier might be the answer and hopefully he still is. Two out of the first eight at home was always going to be difficult, the other lines are delivering so if number 1 could too that would be nice.
  7. Destroys Verdasco in the semis 6-0 6-3 (world numer 16) and then even more comprehensive in the final against outsider Andrey Golubev (who did beat Safin on his way) 6-1 6-1. A routine tournament win without dropping a set, I think we might see a few more of these in the future, he has the potential to outdo even the most optimistic of expectations for him. I'd honestly be surprised if he isn't world number 1 at some point in the future.
  8. Murray has just dismantled another of the big young hopes and world no. 18 Gael Monfils 6-2 6-2 to make the semis of the Madrid Masters, where he will face Federer again or Del Potro.
  9. Excellent result for us after a bit of a hammering in D.C., a goal a piece for our checking line, it looks like one of the few bright spots from last season has improved with the addition of Jannik Hansen. With Luongo still to really hit the zone I'm starting to feel cautiously optimistic.
  10. As Kyle said above it all starts with things being said pre-match and then at the numerous breaks in play. Generally there will then be a moment at a faceoff when the players indicate to each other they are going to go at it as soon as play resumes. It happens more at the start of the season when there are a few enforcers trying to establish their credentials with their own team, where there is generally only one or two slots for 'goons' on each team.
  11. Positive start to the season over, Canucks stop Ovechkin but don't realise there are other Caps players capable of doing damage and go down 5-1, racking up a measly 10 shots. Two games in to a very tough six game road trip, another two wins and two defeats and I'll be happy.
  12. Sadly Alexei Cherepanov, the Rangers 1st round pick in 2007, has died of a suspected heart attack following a collision in his Russian league game at the age of 19, apparently in a collision with teammate Jaromir Jagr. Condolences to his family and Jagr as well.
  13. Flames 4 - 5 Canucks :D A very good start to the season against a good side, our top line delivers again now that we seem to have the right partner for the Sedins, and Demitra gets his first goal in a Canucks uniform at just the right time.
  14. Roberto Luongo Plus for the first time in years a top line that looks capable of producing the goods.
  15. You'll be keeping your head down this morning Canucks 6-0 Flames :D
  16. Without knowing the ins and outs of this situation, he'd have to have some evidence of a pretty extensive cover up operation by Pearse. The Italians bought the club and went through due diligence. Aren't you a little concerned that he is trying to put attention (and possibly Livi's cash) on an unfounded legal claim?
  17. Can you imagine Allan Cowan had done this on the Thistle forum? He would have been destroyed. I don't want any club to go to the wall but since I don't think they are in any real danger I'll have a quiet chuckle at their chairmans PR. Worse than Thistle, worse than Thistle (not on the park obviously).
  18. Do you think Price can be consistent enough to take the Habs deep into the playoffs Bluenose? A great keeper no doubt but he started to crack a bit in the playoffs. Guy obviously has all the faith in the world in him, let's hope it works out for my second team, especially since Carey's a Vancouver boy.
  19. The Canucks Train just keeps on rolling, Canucks 3-2 Sharks. Don't know how much I fancy our regular season chances, but playoffs is an absolute must this year, can't see us making it that comfortably though. I'll go for 7th in the West and a disappointing first round playoffs exit 4-1.
  20. Did someone say Canucks 6-1 Flames??? Without our top line and top two defence pairings? With Phaneuf and Iginla lining up? 5-0-0 pre-season, this is far too good.
  21. Decent start on the good side of the Rockies too, although the Oilers are unlikely to be much of a threat this season, but it was a good victory over San Jose, who completely owned the Canucks last season.
