Well, we finished all 7 series of Mad Men last night and can honestly say it was tremendous TV. (Mrs. F_P was actually in tears when Peggy and Stan declared their love for each other...............)

We now need to find another show to keep us occupied for a couple of hours every night for the next 2 or 3 months.......🤔

ETA - Almost forgot......the final scene in the Esalen-esque retreat where Draper hugs a guy called Leonard ?

Leonard just happens to be an anagram of 'Real Don'. Jist sayin', likesay.................😀

I've watched through Mad Men 3 times now, and I know I'll watch through it all again.

It's an argument that will go on forever, but I think it is genuinely one of the greatest TV shows ever, maybe even the greatest.

  2. Great result against a very good Benfica side. Regarding the pen, I thought the rule this week was that if you play the ball off your own hand then it isn't a handball?

Here's a novel idea. Dispose of "natural position" and all the rest of it and make the rule if it hits your hand then it's handball. It would do away with any dubiety.

I'd have ripped your hand off for a draw before the game, but slightly disappointed not to have won.

We are a very good Europa League side.

Aye, expecting this to be a very different experience compared to the last time we met Benfica where arguably we should've had a couple of wins but done our best to shoot ourselves in the foot and draw twice instead.

I think we will struggle big time.

    Yeah, yeah, football stuff.

There was a very important question there re drinking.

Now all you have to do is work out what your new 160-yard club is... 😉

That had occurred to me.  I see a lot of flown greens in my future

  5. Very niche RTBC, but it's cheered me up.  Got a new phone towards the end of last year (Pixel 8 ) and when connecting it to the car, the info for the song playing would show you the first one and then not change.  So the songs would play fine, but the info and picture etc would just be of the first song played.

Spent fucking ages trying to find out what the issue was and yesterday found some obscure reddit post that suggested changing the AVCRP bluetooth version from the default of 1.5 to 1.3 and it started working.

Even as I'm typing this I realise how fucking dull it is.

  6. Went up to the Pro for a fitting for some new irons.  I've currently got a set of Taylor Made Rocket Bladez that i've had for about 12 years.  I've never thought that they were particularly holding me back (there's far more in my game than my clubs at fault for that), but the difference on the trackman between my existing 7  iron and the irons that i tried (TM Q10'S, Ping G425 & G430) was incredible.

I hit a few warm up shots with my own 7 iron and was hitting it just under 160 which I would say would be about right for me. All of the newer irons I was up in the high 180's.  Even poor connections were travelling over 170.  The increase in forgiveness is instantly noticeable as well.

eta:  I played with a set of G425's last year on holiday and really liked them, and coincidentally they were the ones I was most comfortable with today

Spiers must be trolling at this stage.

Neither the BBC nor the Sky reporter (as far as I'm aware) picked up Rodgers on ignoring the contentious decision to award Celtic a penalty when he was on his masonic conspiracy rant. Which was poor journalism at best.

Spiers long ago gave up any pretence of being a real journalist and has gone down the sevco blogger route.  A very basic search of his twitter throws up plenty of contradictory statements when the manager is of the blue team.

He needs to keep his 62 subscribers of his podcast happy, though.

It was, there's a bit video going about of him dodging it. That's genuinely ridiculous, could cause serious damage if you hit someone with that.

edit:  I was dubious about Rangers signing him as I thought he had a lack of pace, but he gets out of the way of that sharp enough.

The Space Shuttle that fell to Earth, on iPlayer, is one of the most compelling documentaries I’ve ever seen.  It’s morbid, nerve wracking and moving.

It was a hard watch at times, seeing the astronauts and their families talking before the launch was pretty surreal stuff. The management structure at NASA seems completely crazy and they seemed to take a fingers crossed and hope for the best attitude towards safety.

Christ, that was difficult viewing. I've been a spaceflight nerd since the Apollo days and have watched a lot of documentaries. Usually of course things go according to plan, and even when there are problems the astronauts usually manage to come up with a solution. But when things like this happen it can be heart-breaking.

It was particularly sad seeing the crew so happy, joking around in complete ignorance of what lay ahead. Especially the part where they paid tribute to the Apollo 1 and Challenger crews.

Watched the final episode last night, that foam test was a real wow moment, my jaw hit the floor.

I watched this after seeing the posts on here about it.  Heartbreaking and rage inducing at the same time.  All those different people that knew there could be a serious issue that seemed scared to push for it to be checked.  Some of them at least seemed to acknowledge this in the documentary.
