Difficult to see where we're signing another striker from, now. Unless Hopkin can pull a loan deal out the bag, I can't see us signing anyone who's recognisable at this level. If we have the money to strengthen I'd much rather we signed at least one more centre half before a striker but it's obvious that there isn't a clear partner for Mullen so far. Granted, it's early doors, but chopping and changing it between Carrick and Mackin isn't helping any of them IMO.

That's what knackered up Buchanan and White, neither of them got a regular start and both ended up being worse for it. Imo Carrick would score a decent amount of goals if he kept injury free, him and Mullen should be our first choice strikers, with Toddy, Mackin or Peters being used as 2nd half subs. Obv in some games you have to tactically change how you play and another starting line up is required but for the majority of games we should have a regular starting pair, not changing it every game.

James Penrice has signed for Livi until January on a development loan.

Highly rated left back who spent time at East Fife last year. Will get up and down the wing, great left foot, has improved his defensive game noticeably over the close season.

Fair chance that if he does well at Livi, he'll come back to feature in our first team.

More than likely he'll be played at RB or CB with us, unless Longridge gets injured. We play a 3 back so likely will feature at CB, if he's better than Lithgow I won't complain.

We seem to be getting the right loan deals in, good guys who contribute not young guys just for experience.

Says on the OS he can play left sided CB position, that's where we'll be needing him if Lithgow or Gallagher are still injured. Longridge is doing well at LB and LM getting up and down the wing but doesn't do us any harm having competition there. Still think we need CB cover for Gallagher and Halkett though.

Hope he can play CB too, otherwise he's in for a shock tomorrow

Getting good reviews though which is good to see. Also another player who was at East Fife last season joining us

Aye was looking like Toddy, Halkett and Longridge as the back 3 for tomorrow, Penrice might be in left side of the back 3 now.

Penrice has been playing centre half over the course of pre season and showed up relatively well in that position against Airdrie in the cup. I don't see him there long term, would be a waste of his attacking talents. There was other interest in him though and we won't have put him out to Livi, knowing they play three at the back, without good reason.

Forfar Athletic are delighted to have come to an agreement with Livingston whereby last season’s top scorer Josh Peters is to return to the club on a temporary transfer till mid January.

Is that the same as an on loan deal, never seen it put as a temporary transfer before.

A bit disappointed he's not been given a chance yet, isn't as if our strikers have been setting the heather on fire to keep him out the team. Hopefully he scores a lot of goals for Forfar and Hoppy lets him have a chance to see if he can do the same for us when he comes back.
