peasy23
Saw this on Twitter about Sanchez, this is the leaderboard from the 2004 Tour of the Basque country. He's the last one to have a doping related issue.

Salvo Montalbano
Think the Vuelta will be tough as always, but Froome planning his whole year around the double might give him the edge. No big Movistar threat this year and it remains to be seen how the triple threat approach from Orica will work. Don't have Eurosport so will reply on Imlach and the team showing highlights on ITV4 and maybe catch a stream at the weekends for the big stages.
kiddy
All the main challengers giving up seconds to Froome in the opening TTT
F_T_Y
Nibali takes the stage but great work from sky and froome to gain more time over main GC rivals.
Salvo Montalbano
Been an interesting watch even with Sky controlling things. Estaban Chaves looks well strong. Not convinced by the Yeates boys at the moment but give it a couple of years. Didn't know de la Cruz was moving to Sky next year. He's going to be a big help to Froome you'd imagine.
btb
Not a killer stage but one where there was always gonna be a chance to steal a few seconds in the final climb. Once again Froome has shown the savvy to go along with the strength that he and Sky possess. As long as Froome doesn't crash the only way he won't win as far as I can see is for Orica to designate Chaves as leader and ask the Yates brothers to work for him. Just don't see any sense in Orica's tactics, whether you agree with who they picked at times or not, Sky have always made it clear who the leader is and got the team to work for him. It never worked for Movistar either when they had Valverde and Quintana as co leaders.

That should have been Orica's plan from the start.
btb
Just watched ITV4 coverage of yesterday's stage with Adam Yates remarkably chirpy for a GC contador (sic) in 8th and not liable to finish much higher. Today's stage seems relatively low key with a breakaway 7mins ahead with just over 40km and a Cat3 climb to come. Mon the Breakaway! peasy23
Impressive stuff from Matej Mohiric going on a solo break to win the stage.
btb
Barguil out! Quote Warren Barguil, who was sitting 13th on GC, won't participate in stage 8 of La Vuelta 2017. Team Sunweb announced this morning they asked the young French climber, winner of two stages during the last Tour de France, to leave the race. “Warren Barguil openly expressed that he didn't race conform to the team's goal, which left Team Sunweb with no other option than to take this decision”, a press release states. Barguil didn't wait for his leader Wilco Kelderman when he suffered a puncture yesterday on the way to Cuenca. “I see myself in different a role and am eager to attack in the mountains”, Barguil said. Wasn't really a threat for the GC but could have affected the outcome as he was intending to attack in the mountains. F_T_Y
Froome looking unstoppable, skipped up the last climb like it was nothing and more seconds gained on other GC men.

Joey Jo Jo Junior Shabadoo
Stuck a few quid on Bardet at 150-1. I think he might do it. ETA: Or not. Lost over a minute in the last km. 150-1 for a reason. Edited August 27, 2017 by Joey Jo Jo Junior Shabadoo
Joey Jo Jo Junior Shabadoo
Froome holding 3 of the four jerseys going into the first rest day. I expect him to go balls out for the Mountains jersey next week.
kiddy
Top ride by Nick Roche.Came down a sketchy decent & backed it up on the flat to sneak 30 secs back on the major GC contenders, to put himself within 36 secs of Rojo. The main group finishing 4mins+ behind Trentin, who takes Verde outright.
kiddy
MAJOR test for Froome today. It's pissing rain &, with two climbs, divided by a descent, to a MTF.The likes of Nibali will test his poor wet form to the max.
kiddy
Great racing at today's stage end.A narrowing down of the contenders. Looks like being a shoot out between Froome & Nibali. The Shark was very active in the final climb, but attacked a bit far out for me. Both let Miguel Angel Lopez go on, for the stage. As trying to go with him may well have put them way into the red.
kiddy
Well, an eventful stage ended with the Polish guy who won an earlier stage taking his second with a lead of a good few minutes from his break companions. The action was further back. Bertie attacked on the final climb, Froome crashed twice in the dry descent & dropped 20 secs to his rivals, but 40 to AC.There was a Moto crash, caused by a policeman shoving a spectator in front of it & another "arsehole" who shoved a Katusha rider right over a barrier!
