kiddy
A dramatic improvement in form from Nibali, since the Dauphine. It's amazing what a letter from your DS can achieve, following such poor results this season. Edited July 18, 2014 by kiddy
Desert Nomad
A dramatic improvement in form from Nibali, since the Dauphine. It's amazing what a letter from your DS can achieve, following such poor results this season. The only two guys that finished ahead of him in GC at the Dauphine who are still in the Tour are Bardet(in his first Tour) and Van den Broeck(who likewise has done very little all season).Anybody riding for Vino will always been riding with a considerable shadow cast over them. Refreshing to see three Frenchmen in the top ten. Edited July 19, 2014 by Desert Nomad
peasy23
3 monster climbs today and another mountain top finish, fully expect Nibali to extend his lead even further today.
kiddy
Whilst I think that Nibali is, without doubt, the best bike handler in the peleton (riding in the wet, descending, willingness to take risk &, as shown on the Arnberg, on pave). These are abilities you can't get artificially, form is something that can. Looking back at the Dauphine, he was found to be at his limit a few times. Here his ability, at present, looks limitless. Whilst not having the other favourites to compare against, he's still up against a top rank riders in Valverde/J-Rod etc. It'll be interesting to see if he continues to be so dominant in the mountain stages throughout the rest of the tour.
Shuggie_Murray7
It''ll always be harder to criticise Nibali without a host of top contenders.
kiddy
It''ll always be harder to criticise Nibali without a host of top contenders. Considering his better form last season & he was found wanting in the Vuelta against a very dubious Chris Horner.
Desert Nomad
The only guys other than Nibali who are still left in this Tour that have had a podium in a GT are; Valverde, J-Rod(gave up huge time early), Scarponi(Nibali teammate), Gadret(Valverde teammate) and Horner

Gnash
Cracking finish to today's stage, the breakaway getting caught within 20m of the line. Always feel a bit sorry for the guy who missed out on these occasions, in this case the legendary Jack Bauer.

Always feel a bit sorry for the guy who missed out on these occasions, in this case the legendary Jack Bauer. Yep, it was a sore one, Bauer was still bawling his eyes out about 20 minutes after the stage had finished. Sport can be cruel sometimes.

Florentine_Pogen
Richie Porte’s Tour de France woes cap a year to forget for Team SkyFrom Chris Froome’s injury to Jonathan Tiernan-Locke’s doping ban, the British outfit are in salvage mode at the Toura selection decision which had left him angry and frustrated. What with a doping positive and ban for Jonathan Tiernan-Locke, weeks of speculation about whether Wiggins should be selected for the Tour de France alongside Froome, and unfortunately timed injuries that have sidelined key members such as Stannard, 2014 has turned into a nightmare season for Sky. “Now we have to recalibrate again,” said Brailsford. “You’ve got to take account of the situation and not get too downbeat. There’s a lot of racing to go. We have to try to animate the race as much as we can and go from there.” Brailsford’s conclusion was the same as in 2010: you learn more from failure than from success. Unfortunately, Team Sky have plenty to analyse so far this year.
