A fine win for Luca Paolini in Gent-Wevelgem. Mugged the rest of the group with 6km to go & nobody could respond to shut him down. Terpstra 2nd, Thomas 3rd.

I don't even think he had fully committed when he initially went. He seemed to kick a little bit and got the gap, then no one would chase and drag everyone back so he got away.

Have to feel sorry for Luke Durbridge who probably wins inconvenience of the day:

Alexander Kristoff takes the Tour of Flanders, with an impressive/dubious display from a "sprinter".

Yep, saw the highlights this morning. Looked very strong yesterday with just the two men out in front in the latter stages, never in doubt that he was going to win the sprint.

Looking forward to the Paris-Roubaix but sad that it will be Wiggins' last ride for Team Sky before to do his own thing with his own team.

He's been a pleasure to watch over the years and his time-trialling has been flawless to say the least.

I hope he wins it as it would a nice way to finish his road career but those cobbles can be a b*****d!

Kristoff has to be favourite, untouchable right now. I don't think Wiggins will get remotely close. Got a strange feeling Sagan might do it.

Enjoyed Paris-Roubaix this afternoon, John Degenkolb becoming only the third man to win it and Milan-San Remo in the same year. Brutal as ever, with the added peril of the peloton being split in two by a level crossing barrier coming down and a few riders playing chicken with a TGV! Wiggins was 18th, Luke Rowe was 8th while Geraint Thomas had a very hard day at the office with an early puncture then a very heavy crash later on.

Delighted for Degenkolb, it was clear what it meant to him at the end.

Truly mental at the level crossing with several riders ignoring the barrier and the policeman to squeeze over the railway, the last one just a few seconds before a TGV sped past!:lol:

Train company SNCF want the riders prosecuted for failing to stop when the barriers came down. Race organisers are saying that the riders did nothing wrong as they were only 10 metres away when they came down and could not have stopped safely, but as can be seen on the video there were plenty who did stop then dodged their way around the barriers. So this could run for a bit yet!

The race was about 10 minutes ahead of schedule at that point as they had been riding with a strong tailwind.

With the gap between the break & the Peleton being a good 3-4 mins, surely the cop knew of the impending arrival of the train & should have stopped the whole pack? As it was, only a group of about 20 made it through clearly & held back from attacking, to allow a regrouping in the subsequent km's.

I'd have put money on Mathews with 1k to go. A fantastic finish.

Sticking with Gilbert up the last climb must have just taken the edge off his sprint. It was some effort.

Delighted for Kwiatkowski.
