printer
Mortirolo was a complete beast of a climb & Aru was found wanting. But the way Landa rode away from Bertie & Kruijswijk, Astana can FRO. He took off like he was powered by a Z750!
paisleysaints
have to say Alberto Contador has been fantastic during the Giro. Hope he takes this form into the TDF Edited May 27, 2015 by paisleysaints

Not sure if that's because they are shit or because TS are saving them for the Tour.
kiddy
have to say Alberto Contador has been fantastic during the Giro. Hope he takes this form into the TDF The double is going to be VERY difficult, if not nigh on impossible, IMO. Bearing in mind Froome, Nibali & Quintana are all concentrating on the Tour. Any chance might be disappearing, with his third week attacks on Aru. He only needed to mark & protect the lead he'd built up.
kiddy
46 mins in for Landa's motogp moment, but it shows you the outrageous Bertie catching Aru for a minute, on the Mortirolo, having had a mechanical, inside 15 mins!
kiddy
Contador putting Landa under pressure today after the Astana rider has a mechanical just before the climb. Keeps the peleton off at 1min all the way up.
Gogs Grog
I was wondering if anyone would comment on Contador's performance the last few days, including the time trail. To be that much better than everyone in the peleton day after day reminds me of certain cyclists a few years back. He never has a bad day and landa going up the Mortirolo had an easier ride and looked strong holding himself back with Aru. So wasn't so surprised he could put that effort in.
Gogs Grog
Felt Contador sat today allowing Aru his victory. Aru obviously gave his all but Contador looked comfortable throughout. The one guy I'm impressed with was Ryder Hysdal in the last few days.
kiddy
I expect Contador to open a can of whupass today, on Astana. As he's yet to win a stage. Think yesterday was just ensuring he defended his advantage.

Desert Nomad
Contador cracked big time on Finnestre, but the finishing climb to Sestrieres just wasn't tough enough for Astana to overhaul him. Catch 22 with Contador, he's obviously had his misdemeanours in the past, but glad Astana got beat. Quintana will prove to much for Alberto to overcome in the Tour IMO.

Will he finish on the podium, considering Quintana, Nibali & Froome will all be reasonably fresh?
peasy23
Wiggins destroyed Alex Dowsett's hour record, going 54.625 km. In the Dauphine, Pete Kennaugh won the opening stage.
kiddy
SSN gave a list of previous holders including Boardman, Merckx, Big Mig & Dowsett. Completely missing out Obree.
peasy23
SSN gave a list of previous holders including Boardman, Merckx, Big Mig & Dowsett. Completely missing out Obree. Obree's record doesn't count as they scrubbed all those that were done in modified positions, that includes Boardman's 56k. Boardman also did a 49k which was within the rules and was the record at the time.
kiddy
I thought Obree was just alienated for being an oddball who's diet included marmalade sandwiches? Never mind only wanting to see a doctor when he was genuinely feeling ill.
kiddy
After yesterday's no show/bonk from Nibali, Valverde & Costa. Apparently they are near 3 mins up the road with 47km to go!
Desert Nomad
Great stuff from Nibali, Valverde and Costa today. Nibali living up to his reputation as a fine rider in rubbish weather.
peasy23
Good day for Froome as he left everyone behind to take the stage win, Van Garderen hung on with him for most of the final climb and he had enough of a gap over the rest to take the overall lead.
