Mik
Wouldn't disagree with this but Christ Illusion and World Painted Blood are good albums as well. The thing with Slayer is, other than Diabolus In Musica (mid 90's when all metal sucked -although 'Dittohead' is a belter) and Undisputed Attitude (covers) - you know what you're gonna get from them. I actually like Diabolus in Musica...that's possibly due to being a total fanboy when it comes to Slayer. Apart from Undisputed Attitude, that was sh*te. albums i'd say...SOH/SITA are pretty much a tie for me. 1. Hell Awaits 2. Reign In Blood 3= South of Heaven 3= Seasons in the Abyss 5. Show No Mercy 6. World Painted Blood 7. Diabolus in Musica 8. God Hates Us All 9. Christ Illusion 10. Divine Intervention 11. Undisputed Attitude
Raithie
I was very late getting into Slayer. Started with God Hates Us All which to this day I still love. People go on about the lyrics being to teeny/angsty but I think they're great. The cover is awesome as well. Whilst I have all their albums I do find myself steering away from Christ Illusion and World Painted Blood for some reason and through time I've found their earlier stuff to be their best, particularly South Of Heaven. I've been on a bit of a grindcore binge lately (Nasum, Pig Destroyer, Agaraphobic Nosebleed etc). Pretty mental stuff if you can sit through the albums in one sitting. Can't wait for the new Napalm Death album. The new song Cesspits is great, particularly the opening riff.
Ira Gaines
Worth noting that Mastodon are self confirmed for Download, and it's highly likely that Billy Idol will be on the lineup somewhere or other.

Keep that sort of stuff for the likes of rewind.

They're perfectly acceptable undercard fodder for a festival like Download.
Dunning1874
Excellent stuff from Morbid Angel tonight. Gig of the year potential tomorrow with Behemoth, Decapitated, Grand Magus and Winterfylleth. Been a while since I was excited to see every single band on a bill.

DavieCFC
Looking forward to Behemoth tonight, Decapitated and Winterfylleth should be good too. Grand Magus ive seen (supported Amon Amarth? a coupla years ago in the same venue a coupla years ago) and listened to them, they're boring imo.
Ranaldo Bairn
It's funny, different views on bands. I love Winterfylleth, seen them live and met them, really nice guys. Decapitated have grown on me a lot since I saw them as teenagers in London in about 2001 or so. Grand Magus I like, they write good songs I think, but Behemoth for me are a total waste of time. I just don't get the hype at all. Not particularly fast, heavy, good songwriters or excel by any standard measurement. Maybe they do a good show, I dunno.

Best summation I ever heard was from a much wiser colleague, (that's most of them), who said, "There are only two genres of music; music that you like and music that you don't like".
DavieCFC
ok verdict on tonight Winterfylleth - Really good as hoped for, didnt get nearly long enough though :/ Bought one of their t-shirts Grand Magus - Started off pretty well actually, but the momentum died with songs 3-5, thats the kind of grand magus i remember, boring. Decapitated - Good, enjoyable, but tbh not as good as i was exptecting. Guess i shouldnt expect every death metal band i see to be as blow away awsome as Carcass was last year. Couldnt stop watching the guitarist most of the time, that dude can play. Behemoth - Really really good, brilliant musicianship, Nergal's antics were great, he reeeeeeally gets into it. Only slight downside was the drumming issues that seemed to happen around the last 3rd of the setlist and about the 5 minute odd stoppage it cause, really was abit of buzzkill. But hearing Chant for Eschaton 2000 afterwards, all is good again All in all, a great evening Edited December 11, 2014 by DavieCFC

George Parr
My verdict: Winterfylleth - N/A - On far too early for me. Grand Magus - 7/10 - Enjoyed this shower much more than I expected, despite hardly being my favourite genre. The guitar sound was terrific and Steel v Steel is a top track. Decapitated - .9/10 - Band of the night. No annoying gaps between songs like when they supported Lamb of God. A short, brutal set, which flowed well and was complimented by brutal riffage and the guttural roar of Rafał Piotrowski. Behemoth - 8/10 - A solid set and there's no denying that the best songs of the night were contained within their arsenal - Eschaton 2000 and Oh Father Oh Satan Oh Sun were marvellous. Marked down due to lack of flow, technical issues and a couple of dud tracks. Good night overall.
