froggybinos
Seen as scotlands youngsters appear to have a very talented squad already, What do you think the Scotalnd team will be in 5ears time in the run up to the 2008 european cup. What wil you team be?? Goalkeeper- Ian Turner Defence- Jakie Mcnamara,Christian Daily, Andy webster, Gary Naysmith Midfield-Darren Fletcher, Colin Cameron, Barry Ferguson, Neil Mcann Strikers- James Mcfadden, Shaun Malonney Subs- Soutar, Crainney, Ross, Stwart, Thompson, Miller, Murray
ICTChris
Dailly, McNamara, Cameron and McCann will be too old when it comes to the 2008 world cup. People criticise Wilkie, but he will improve with age and eliminate youthful mistakes. Ross is about the best I can think of as a young right back. Hopefully Fletcher, Pearson and Murray come through and advance their games. McFadden and Miller is a quality striker force. Only reservations abotu this (provisional) line up would be a possible lack of width in the midfield and strength up front. maybe Vogts would like to start with Thompson or even Kevin Kyle (who I hear is doing well with Sunderland this season). Of course, we could yet see Dennis Wyness or Barry Robson in a Scotland shirt -------------------Turner------------------------ --Ross-----Webster---Wilkie---Naysmith-- --Fletcher--Ferguson--Pearson--Murray-- --------------Miller----McFadden--------------
bluetooner
Id hate to say, but who is ian turner???? Team looks not bad, but you never know who will be doing what in 4 years time. Hopefully all the decent under 21 players come through, but you never know how they will adapt. People can suddenly go out of the picture like Donnelly from Celtic. Doesnt look a bad team tho does it, just hope everyone improves
Raving On
Id hate to say, but who is ian turner???? Everton player who signed from Stirling last year. Was on the bench for the derby match the other week - absolutely dynamite and will become a successful keeper at international level. Won't break through immediatly but give him 2 or 3 years times and he will be class/

Guest LJ
Arthur Ross Webster Rushford Naysmith Fletcher Murray Pearson Stewart 2 from Miller Maloney and McFadden Anyone who's not heard of Gavin Rushford will have in a few years time. He's currently the youngest player to have played in the SPL and is one of the best young prospects in the country.
froggybinos
thats one hell of a young team, it would mean only one player who would be over 30!! surely you cant miss out ferguson, i know he has never been amazing for scotland yet and he isnt every one favourite player but you cant not have him there, also did anyone notice fergusons performance improved alot when lambert went off, he started to command and control the scotland team like he used to do at scumgers
Guest blues_in_f
yeah.. I think they are are two best midfielders but are too alike... Has to be one or the other I'm afraid... Thought the midfield in general was poor though and the germans ruled that part of the game...

Look what team he has just joined. Souness was the king of the 'international call offs' when he managed Rangers, something which was comparitavely unheard of in his playing days.

Mr. Brightside
Did ICTChris seriously suggest Maurice Ross?!
craigkillie
Did ICTChris seriously suggest Maurice Ross?! He won 13 caps for Scotland, so not as daft a suggestion as it seems now. He was also right about Barry Robson, even if the initial comment was meant as a joke.

Maryhill Magyar
So who is Gavin Rushford then, and where is he now? Played for us and made his SPL debut aged 15 or something He was then caught doing something naughty and was sacked before I think signing for QP where it didn't happen for him; don't think he has been seen since
The Arch
I presume the Murray that's being discussed is Stevie Murray? 6 years is a long time to be fair. Alan Hutton was probably just breaking through. Same with Whittaker, Scott Brown, Steven Fletcher etc. Gary Caldwell was a laughing stock - some might argue he still is. Craig Gordon might have just been breaking through. If we were to predict a team now, for what our starting team would be in six years, not one person would get it right.
Quentin Taranbino
I imagine the Murray was Ian Murray?
The Arch
I imagine the Murray was Ian Murray? You might be right. I was wondering why he was central midfield in one of the formations, considering there is no way Stevie Murray could play that position, but I don't remember Ian Murray playing left mid.
