The majority of fans will get on fine outside of the football environment, but both sides had (when I was at home) and by the anecdotal evidence on here and in the media, from family members, etc., still have a sizeable minority who, as is the way of these things, stand out from the crowd (npi) due to their unacceptable behaviour. My biggest issue, and you know this from many posts before, is the acceptance by many of the decent majority and, most shamefully, the lack of sanctions from the clubs themselves. The unfortunate thing is that these two know where the money comes from. They have, in business-speak, a well-established brand which is proving successful. Only by the decent supporters leaving these grounds to the extremists might the clubs change, after looking week after week at acres of empty seats. Nowadays the old firm ban anyone caught signing or chanting anything which could be considered offensive, you can't say that they turn a blind eye to it. We've all seen the recent Celtic fans protests over this and some of our fans groups (Blue Order/Union Bears etc) have spoken out against the OTT policing and PC climate. Your always going to get aresholes at the fitba causing trouble, no matter what teams are involved. Was it not last season that an Aberdeen fan dressed as a sheep was set on fire by Hibs fans? As for the clubs doing what they can - I don't know if rangersmdia and follow follow, or any celtic sites, have any official links to the clubs, but rMedia at least uses an awful lot of images and even avatars to which the club own copyright. Same applies to a few celtic sites I've had a look at. Coupled with the bile we see on there, it's not hard to see how people can draw conclusions. If the club doesn't mind the association..... Do the wee scumbags still line the streets around the temples of hate, selling their knock-off "joke" shirts and rebel/flute* CDs? If so, perhaps the clubs could have a word with the police and ask them to remove anyone trading unlicensed.
