cowden0
STV Sport @STVSport STV has learned that Gavin Masterton is to leave the Dunfermline board as part of a number of boardroom changes: http://bit.ly/15vkHFS thats the good news here's the bad news Scottish FA @ScottishFA Disciplinary News // Notice of Complaint issued to Dunfermline, following Scottish Cup 5th round tie v Hamilton http://bit.ly/YtfPh8 Edited March 5, 2013 by cowden0
Larbert_Par
To be fair, we already knew Hamilton had complained to the SFA, so that's not really new. Will be interesting to see the full detail of the changes tomorrow. I can only hope and pray that the changes will pave the way for the survival of the club.
DAFC
Wow, hope that means that all the toxic debt is cleared but you'll probably find that he still owns the stadium and has just created another company to move the debt into.
GSXR750
He's stepped down? AND? Sounds to me like he has managed to sell on some of his shares and the lucky, lucky purchaser is now going to be runing the club? Net effect...a bigger bladder to pish back into the drain. The news we want to hear is that Dunfermline Athletic have been removed from Mastertons Companies not just that Masterton has himself been given leave of absence from Dunfermline. To what means anyway? So that the Share Issue (IF IT EVER HAPPENS) looks a bit more attractive because the hate figure has been removed and someone else can do a better job of Comical John Ali Yorkston's job? Share Isse delayed because of wording and no accounts registered.......yeah I'll buy into that,
Parscelona
If he's still the majority shareholder and the club/stadium remains under Charlestown Holdings then it's not that great news.
Kyle
How much of the debt is due to Masterton directly? This could be bad news quite as easily as good. Fingers crossed with him out of the way, Dunfermline can get their house in order.

sons superhero
Excuse me asking I'm confused now. Who holds the debt that the club have? If it is Masterton, him leaving means he'll want his money. I'm sure I'm missing something.
HibeeJibee
Is there any real significance in him leaving the Board in practical terms, or is it more a sort of PR move - in that supporters organisations and suchlike are more likely to work with each other and DAFC (and buy shares?) if he's not at the head of the table?
DA Baracus
'His money' is money he was 'loaned' by HBOS, a ludicrous sum that is not payable until well after he'll be dead, and that will have to be repaid by someone else, i.e. the club. 'His money' indeed.

It's a massive smokescreen. He'll still be in the background pulling the strings because he'll still have the majority shareholding. This is to just try and get folk to buy the shares.
Airdrie76
It makes no difference at all unless he's written off what he's owed. Actually, the next man in cant possibly be as incompetent or dilusional but will it really change the bigger picture.

vikingTON
Airdrie76 said it, whoever takes over can't possibly be as incompetent, untrustworthy and cuntish as GM. Don't recall the rest of your boardroom complaining, back when GM was financing cup final appearances with squads you couldn't afford. The revisionism on display is already remarkable: Masterton is the Fred Goodwin of your failed business - an easy scapegoat, but not the direct cause of your problems. Getting rid of him won't change this at all.
GordieBoy80
Jim Leishman is on the verge of destroying his whole legacy as a Pars legend if he agrees to be the puppet. Do the right thing Jim, for our club and your own self respect.

Paco
Nothing's changed yet other than a Masterton vote in boardroom affairs. And given Yorkston, for instance, has been given an honourary position by Masterton then that's his proxy vote. Leishman may well be too if "local investors" translates to Purvis. It's an attempt to boost sales in the share issue. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Either way the Pars need to seriously downsize their outgoings. Nothing has changed between now and 2000 other than Masteron now being unable to cover the shortfalls. Getting rid of him won't change this at all. Indeed. Even as recent as last year a few of the more prominent pars fans were laughing at the cutbacks rovers made claiming that masterton was set to pay off more debt. I wish the pars all the best and hope he is punted but they need to work to a suitable level.
