Walking Down The Halbeath Road

It does look rather shoed in so don't see what the problem is. If they want people's opinions, they get it. Free speech eh?

On another note Lewis Martin called up for Scotland again. If anything Lewis Spence and/or Williamson should have been called up IMO, but that's none of my business.

Been saying it countless to times, he has a tremendous amount of potential, he's been having a bad run of form but that was always going to happen.

Callum Morris had a bad run of form last year and he's playing for the best team in the country....

I'd put Martin into the same category as Bamba and big Cal in that their worst flaws are stuff that a good coach can soon knock out of them. Martin has the odd lapse in concentration but in general he's a good tackler and really calm on the ball. He's in the next Scotland u19 squad too. He's a young boy playing in man's game and doing pretty well.

Our defensive problems are probably highlighted at the moment by the lack of a goalscoring threat/creativity. No sense in talking the boy down anyway - a nice wee transfer fee for him, Spence or Williamson could be a tiny outlay for a bigger club but a massive boost to our coffers.

That move to Dundee Unayted was a bit baffling but then again Sol Bamba made quite a good career after playing for The Pars.

Dundee United made contact with him last January and his performances started to dip. Prior to that he was outstanding.

5-1 win over Clyde in the Youth Cup last night. Another couple of goals for James Thomas. He seems to be growing and bulking up fast.

The bit I most enjoyed about his goal against Peterhead, apart from the fact it led to one of their centre halfs having a complete meltdown towards him, was that it was played straight through the middle of their seven man defence. It was Byrne's last telling contribution to a game, until the game against East Stirling, before becoming anonymous again. The run was excellent, the finish as well and the pass was played to perfection. More of the same on a consistent basis and we could have an excellent midfielder and nippy striker in the first team. Good to hear Thomas is bulking up as well, he looks thinner than Chris McGroarty when he first burst onto the scene.

Byrne seemed to be picking out that same pass a few times against Shire too - Faissal and Moffat both were starting to read his passes and time runs to get on the end of them. I only remember one fluffed pass from him on Sunday - if he can take that form into Saturday's game we could see a few more cards for Peterhead. That quick control and passing is perfect for inviting wild lunges from frustrated opponents.

Very inconsistent player. When he plays well, he is outstanding. Sometimes you're better off with a cone in midfield when he isn't playing well.

If we show that desire of last season to never give up, he can be an important player for us again.
