If Loaded and Chris Evans are more into Suede and the Manics, does it become a movement that encompasses a wider group of folk... or nothing really changes? This of course might overstating how big "lad culture" really was. I have no idea! Oasis clearly were a part of that and had cultural influence not restricted just to their music, but I don't think it develops too differently tbh.

It does the same thing that loads of people seem to be doing now - making up other people to be angry about. The idea that Oasis fans are all "flag shaggers" and Reform voters is very silly. This is the Neil Kulkarni piece he refers to in the article. Even if you don't agree it's highly entertaining.

No new material, a set that's liable to focus on their first two albums from 30 years ago. Not a criticism unique to Oasis, a band I like (well the first two albums anyway).

Guns n Roses, Kiss, The Who, Queen, Take That and loads of other artists do regular tours without any new material and have done for years. Just look all the way to Sinatra doing his residencies in Vegas to see how popular it is over there. No real money in making new music these days for these bands. Shame really.

Apparently tickets for Murrayfield are at least £72.

I predict the tour will be a massive success FWIW I don't think there is a another band capable of matching (maybe even exceeding) the jaded debauchery of the Stones. 49 minutes ago, Musketeer Gripweed said: No real money in making new music these days for these bands. Far less risk of the band imploding on a tour with Da Brudders being Limo'd in and out separately than going into the studio to record new material too.
ScotiaNostra
It would never happen but I always kinda hoped Oasis would reform and do the opposite of the big stadium gigs tour. Like how they started, they made their name by playing gigs up and down the country. I remember Liam getting baited for wearing the City top in places like Newcastle and Leeds. They had a real energy. It would have been something different to see them reform and do a proper tour of small venues again. Judging by the interest in these massive gigs though I guess that it would have been impossible and their age now would have made it difficult. I never saw Oasis live and thought it was shit but the big gigs like Balloch, Knebworth etc. They were nowhere near as good as Oasis were at those smaller venues mid 90s.
pozbaird
One thing that thankfully didn’t happen after they imploded in 2009 is that there were two versions of ‘Oasis’ treading the boards. Unlike Slade for example, or The Sweet. At one point there were about three different Slades on the go. As long as Liam and Noel are there, I admit it’ll be Oasis… even though my opinion is there should be some sort of representation on the stage from a previous Oasis line up. The hype surrounding this is something else. They could probably sell out Wembley fifteen times.

Unless someone's a massive Guigsy or Alan White fan, I reckon that's about as Oasis as it gets. Edited August 28 by Al B

Only questionnow is if Andy Bell gets brought back, or they stick Gem on bass?

Noel, Gem and Bonehead all on guitar. Andy Bell not involved. Noel's also got a current booking at a London studio right now, so.....who knows. Fifteen nights at Wembley no problem, if they chose to I reckon. Suppose it depends on them announcing European dates too.
