AUcal
Very glad to have stumbled across this thread for the first time, very few of my friends/colleagues find partridge funny at all, which I just can't understand. All subjective I guess, I've never been that keen on still game. Enjoyed reading back through some of the qoutes and stuff in here, Alan is a true hero. Recently listened to all of "from the Oasthouse" and thought it was excellent, not sure how I'd not listened by this point but it was very very funny.

I remember watching it on MMM and pissing myself and it's been re-uploaded to YouTube. Fucking superb - "The Clifton Suspension Bridge was built for people like you. The fact that you can drive cars across it is a bonus". The opening line has me in stitches, as does the ‘Clifton Suspension Bridge’ line. Word of warning though, don’t do as I done and try and use it as a hysterical reply to someone on Twitter, because it does come across like you are telling someone to commit suicide. There’s so many good scenes in MMM. Love the episode that he stands in for another presenter where he interviews a Tory MP, and gets her to say something slightly different from something she had said previously. ‘Will you….put….up bus…..fares?’ He sticks a few fly digs in at the Scottish as well. I get the feeling this is something that has actually happened to Coogan though Edited September 25, 2021 by IrishBhoy

Hamish's Passenger
Anyone managed to get tickets for the Stratagem tour? Looking forward to it on Thursday at Edinburgh Playhouse. Hard to know what to expect in all honesty.

I went to a Coogan show about 10 years ago and it was garbage.

Killie Robert
How was it guys? [emoji106][emoji107]I really enjoyed it, some bits better than others, really enjoyed the second half. The Martin Brennan interview was outstanding again. If you’re a Partridge fan, you’ll love it.
invergowrie arab
It was a bit shite TBH but having watched live Coogan before its about what i expected and bucket list ticked Laughed a few times but it's extremely similar in content and gags to the Forward Solutions stuff. You get the feeling it's a pay day for Coogan and he couldn't wait to get through it and I'd be amazed if it took more than a day to write.
54_and_counting
As invergowrie says it was a bit shit, the first act was funny for first 5mins then descended into typical partridge only he didnt really have a scene to bounce off of Second act was a bit better, I went there with extremely low expectations so wasnt disappointed, other half loved it, she loves partridge though so defo this was up her street, funnily enough Coogan would probably do alright as a general stand up comedian
Hamish's Passenger
Going to echo most of what has been said. Barring literally 3 or 4 laughs I thought it was very disappointing. 2nd half was slightly stronger than first. Stick to tv as it just doesn’t translate in the same manner.
invergowrie arab
I think the issue is there's no jeopardy. In the TV shows you see the awkwardness and embarrassment from other people. In this when its just him on the stage and in control there is nobody to bounce off.
IrishBhoy
I was planning to go to the Hydro show but for some reason thought it was next month. I did see some clips on Twitter from Dublin I think it was, and it didn’t look great. I seen he cancelled one of the nights in Glasgow as well, I assume due to poor ticket sales. What sort of crowd did he manage to get for the show which did go ahead? The Hydro is a big arena, and I did think it was a tad optimistic of him to try and sell two nights. I’m as big a Partridge fan as anyone, but I could count on the one hand how many other people I know that are a fan too.

He cancelled one glasgow gig because of laryngitis, same with his gig on Monday (canny mind where it was) the tuesday cancelles guys could have webt for wed tickets according to the ticketmaster release, but when i was there on wed the whole top tier was curtained off,

That was it exactly, there was no scenes for him to work off, when he did scatterings of actual stand up comedy he was actually pretty decent, but when he went into full alan partridge mode it was a struggle

My sister works for the NHS and they were offering tickets for it through some sort of NHS reward scheme for £12. I was at a Josh Taylor fight a few years ago where they curtained off the top tier, probably 4 or 5 thousand if the remaining seats were filled.
