mcintyre_gmfc
Mikey Miller's pace > Darren Barr's pace + Steven Saunders' pace + Frazer Wright's pace Ahh right enough. Take him though, we will throw Joe McKee in as well.
Jan Vojáček
Ahh right enough. Take him though, we will throw Joe McKee in as well. Scored a goal at the Rock so he's already ahead of quite a few members of the current squad. We've got quite a good record with 'Ton rejects like Andy Graham, Paddy Flannery and Ching, aye chuck him in too then.
Darren1872
I'd rather see aiden nesbitt over Tom Walsh, nesbitt can play Rm or behind the strikers. Scored 11 goals in the celtic development teams first 4 games. http://spfl.co.uk/news/article/one-to-watch-aidan-nesbitt/ Article on him; So Ryan Hardie, aiden nesbitt and retain Lindsay. That's what I'd love to see.
Silverton End
I'd love a Nathan Austin type player in. He's just about the only lower level SPFL player I'd sign, knows the way to the onion bag. Hope any signings come from the level we're at currently, or loans from SPL/O.Firm.
Thommo90
Austin was good against us, his finishing seems a bit dodgy (apart from the lobbed goal) but not as if we have players hitting it on target every time.
Benito Robles
I'm pretty sure in Football Manager it blocked me from signing a couple of players on loan from Rangers, but this is SD's specialist area and he'll know the ins and outs of it (transfer pun there, clever, eh?) Here's the SPFL rule in question - " ....... at any time have more than one Player Scottish FA Registered with it on the basis of Standard Temporary Transfers and Emergency Temporary Transfers combined from any one Club for the time being in the same Division as itself; ......"

DumbartonTheSons
An attacking midfielder would be most welcome, particularly given Gibson's departure. However, a striker in the Chris Kane mould (i.e a goalscorer) is essential. Probably likely to be a loan and hopefully it's one Stevie and Faz get right. I see some are hoping for a goalkeeper. I'd be astonished if we signed a goalkeeper in this window. For all our discussion and perhaps doubts surrounding Mark Brown, I reckon Aitken will be happy with a regular No.1 (he must rate him as such to have signed him) and I can't see him 'wasting' a squad space and a wage on another goalkeeper when we already have a back-up goalkeeper in the squad.

I think Brown is ok, but has no one to challenge him, and I think ewings is anywhere near fit, however it would be foolish to bring in an experienced keeper, so maybe a young, cocky one, who will bite your hand off for a chance, we did that with Rogers,

I'm not Brown's biggest fan, but I just think that with the squad now looking as thin as it does in other areas, it'd be surprising if Aitken uses any of our budget for a second-choice goalkeeper. I'm in agreement with you that Brown (and any No.1 goalkeeper in fact) should be challenged, I just don't think now is a sensible time to be using our budget and squad spaces to do that.
Thommo90
I didn't like brown at first but I'm warming to him, would like better but need to be realistic, Rogers was a class act that we got lucky on. Other places in the team should be prioritised before even thinking about a back up. However if brown gets injured...

Jan Vojáček
Pretty fair assessment of our season in the Herald's half-time review DumbartonJanuary looks like being an important month for the part-timers with manager Stevie Aitken hoping to keep what is left of his squad together. His captain Darren Barr, taken off injured during the second half of last weekend’s 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Rangers at home, has a deal that runs until after the meeting with Queen of the South on January 16 along with ex-Motherwell defender Steven Saunders. Aitken hopes to keep both of them at the club having received assurances that Jamie Lindsay can remain on loan from Celtic. Eamonn Brophy has returned to Hamilton Academical with Scott Brown heading back to St Johnstone, though, and Willie Gibson looks like signing for Stranraer this week. Conceding goals has been a serious problem for the Sons. They have the worst record in the league alongside Alloa, having let in 39 so far. It is nowhere near good enough and it is where experienced players such as Barr and Frazer Wright must have greater influence in terms of organisation. Avoiding relegation would be a success at this stage in the game. What do they need in the January transfer window? First and foremost, they could do with their out-of-contract players signing new deals. Goals have been hard to come by, too, but where is a striker to be found? The only bit I'd dispute is the defence, aye our goals conceded column is rank, but rather than conceding three every game like last season we look solid for a few games then concede a bucketload. Of those thirty-nine conceded here's how they break down: Rangers 12 in 3 games Falkirk 8 in 3 games Hibernian 5 in 2 games Raith 4 in 2 games QOS 3 in 2 games Morton 2 in 2 games Alloa 2 in 2 games Livi 2 in 2 games St Mirren 1 in 2 games Rangers have tonked 4 and 6 past us in successive games, Falkirk stuck 5 past us in one match, and Hibs 4. Our performances defensively against the non title chasing teams is actually considerably better, 14 conceded in 12 games - 3 of them in the one game against Raith where we pulled a draw out the bag. Good news about Lindsay being allowed to stay on for the rest of the season too - he really has looked a player since he got over his injury.

Scottylintonstowel
At the moment the Irish and Icelandic leagues are on their winter breaks as are the Scandinavian leagues. We have gained players in the past from these leagues eg Chris Turner and Hring hringsson. Also we had a young defender from Sheffield United a few years ago. There must be a lot of good young players about who are looking for a regular game. Bertie auld played as a loanee for us and the experience did him a world of good. The players are there if only Aitken can find them.
