Mr Prez
How would you do this and how long would it take
Confidemus
I fucking love neutron stars, pulsars and magnetars. The fastest spinning pulsar spins 716 times a second. That's faster than a kitchen blender. And magnetars have magnetic fields up to 20 trillion times stronger than Earth's.

Confidemus
Wouldn't want to go near them with a filling then At 600 miles it would rip human tissue apart. Placed between Earth and the Moon it would lift metal objects in your pocket and wipe every credit card on Earth. So no, you wouldn't want to get too close. ETA: Young magnetars are thought to have magnetic fields a quadrillion times stronger than Earth's. Confidemus
Obviously worst case scenario stuff, but an enjoyable watch nonetheless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ZBrPPnyXc58

Boghead ranter
If anyone is interested Neil Degrasse Tyson has his own YouTube/radio channel Small wondering point from me - if you met him, would you address him as Mr Degrasse Tyson or Mr Tyson? (at least until he says "call me Neil")

Tamdunk
I've seen some stuff recently about 2 pulsars colliding, as they start to spin around each other they creates gravity waves, which are thought to have more energy than Gamma ray bursts.
FlyerTon
We should see an almost Total Solar Eclipse at around 09:30 on Friday 20 March 2015 (weather permitting) (Glasgow 93.73% at 09:34) This will be the best Solar Eclipse in Glasgow until 23 September 2090. The last time there was a 93% Solar Eclipse in this area was 8 April 1921. http://www.seasky.org/astronomy/astronomy-calendar-2015.html Faroe Islands is the place to be for the chance to see a 100% Solar Eclipse next March: Edited June 16, 2014 by FlyerTon

FlyerTon
12:05pm launch has been delayed. Some boat in the exclusion zone and something else (non technical). They have a 2 hour odd launch window so good chance it will still go today.
