SJC's Boat Thread

Recommended Posts

My latest wonder - What's the deal with drinking and bathing water living on your boat SJC? Do you have your own connection to the public main at your mooring, or do you have constant water storage on board?

I have a 500l water tank at the bow of the boat that feeds the toilet, shower & taps. This can be topped up at any time as each mooring has a tap.

Think the £2m insurance is mainly to cover damage to the canal network and adjacent buildings really.

The old boathouse at Harrison Park is listed for example and currently in a state of disrepair.......they are desperate for a narrowboat to crash into it so they can renovate on the unfortunate boaters insurance!

How do you get mail if you aren't on the boat? Does the door of your boat have a letterbox?

Would you ever get a pet for your boat?

Have you ever taken a leak of the side of the boat ever? Perhaps after a heavy night.

Hypothetically if you were to have a party on the boat, how many people could you get on before it would sink?

We each have a shed adjacent with the mooring - mail gets delivered there.

Would you ever get a pet for your boat?

I wouldn't but a few of my neighbours have dogs and cats.

No - I have a bathroom on board.

I'm not sure and I'm not too keen to find out!

We will be able to test this at sjc's boatwarming party once he has had all the work done

My favourite quote from this piece....

"had strayed dangerously close to the back doors".

Not sure why.
