And if you havn't read their manifesto you can't say they arw far right or racist. I have and they most certainly are not either of these things. Never mind the clue.Spit it and we'll read it.Or is it something you know will be ridiculed? You honestly think that the only way to gain knowledge about Reform is by reading their manifesto? Do you live that secluded a life that your only source of knowledge on politics is via party manifestos?

Billy Jean King
46 minutes ago, Steelly said: Great to see Reform doing well. They are not far right and definitely not racist. They are centre/right. Racist is being thrown around a lot. Maybe take a look closer to home in Holyrood. In what way did they "do well". All last night shows is they are taking some Tory protest votes thus opening the door for Starmer to win big. If that is their intention then yes, it looks like it will work but somehow I didn't think that was the plan.

FWIW I don't think Reform are far right, I think they're just right. UKIP are far right. If we use the term far right for Reform we're going to run out of words to describe the BNP and the National Front, and parties in Europe like National Rally. They're sure as hell not centre right though.

Salvo Montalbano
44 minutes ago, ICTChris said: I know everyone says stuff like this all the time but this election could be a watershed in British politics. If the Conservatives are on less than 100 seats the existence of their party could be in the mix. I wonder if the opposite is also true? A massive 400 odd Labour MPs splitting up into "Labour Left" (really left of centre) and "Moderates" (really right of centre). Especially since there are a few Labour voices who always sound much better in opposition. As an intellectual exercise it would interesting to imagine how a PR Parliament would look like if the two big parties split, and how many old Labour types would sit with a "Centrist Conservatives" party and vice versa.

GordonS
Just now, Steelly said: White people are not overrepresented. What he said was absolutely racist. "White people are not overrepresented." About 5% of the working age population is from an ethnic minority. That's 1 in 20. Are 1 in 20 senior civil servants, high court judges, chief execs and heads of service of local authorities, chief execs of public bodies, chief and deputy chief constables from ethnic minorities? No. In fact almost none are. These are facts that you will dance around not because you think there's something wrong with the evidence but because you want to. And you are no more centre right than Patrick Harvie is centre left.

If you're against immigration then you think you're a more appropriate neighbour of mine than someone not from the UK, or Scotland, or wherever you're drawing your lines. Why? Why would I rather live next door to you than a family from Stockholm, or Syria? Why am I more important to you than them? Location of birth? Ethnicity?
