Bored at work today so decided to get back involved in this after opting out when the quiz went down under, a stonking 8/10 to welcome me back.

Knew 1-4,6 and 9, and guessed 2 of the remaining 4.

I'd like to sub in Eednudnded's question 4, to which the answer is indubitably d) all of the above. A pie floater is absolutely bogging btw, and I say that as someone who likes disgusting fast food.

Here are the answers to Cardinal Richelieu's special Aussie request quiz.

The Card and Swarley both scored 2 and Fuctifano knew enough to score 2 for the only questions he mentioned and they were the same 2 as the others.

1. Who was The Speaker of the House of Representatives when Harold Holt forgot to turn back to shore?

a) Billy Sneddon
b) Les Patterson
c) William Aston
d) John McLeay

The answer is c) William Ashton or Sir William Ashton. I did have to Google that one though.

Billy Sneddon was leader of the Liberal opposition when they lost the 1974 election and was also the Speaker for a while. John McLeay was the Speaker before Ashton (Google again) and Les Patterson or Sir Les Patterson was the Australian MInister for the Yartz and long time cultural ambassador.https://youtu.be/nULFMp4jKBo

2. Which Australian PM wandered into reception of a Memphis hotel without his breeks?

a) Kevin Rudd
b) Malcolm Fraser
c) John Howard
d) Bob Hawke

The answer is b) Malcolm Fraser who is reported to have wandered up to reception in a sleazy Memphis hotel wearing only his shirt and Y's, claimed later that he had been drugged and no idea how he got there.

Fraser was a Liberal PM like Little Johnny Howard. The other 2 were Labor PM's but at least Bob Hawke held the record for sculling the equivalent of a yard of beer when at Oxford University. "His academic achievements were complemented by setting a new world record for beer drinking; he downed 212 imperial pints – equivalent to a yard of ale – from a sconce pot in 11 seconds as part of a college penalty." No idea what a sconce pot is.

3. Which NSL side beat Dundee during their 1978 tour Down Under?

a) Marconi
b) Footscray JUST
c) West Adelaide Hellas
d) Newcastle KB United

The answer is d) they lost 1-2 on May 17, They also lost 1-2 to Victoria and 1-2 to a New Caledonia XI. The KB part of the name came from KB Lager n3305.jpg

4. Is Dave Warner

a) an annoying little c**t
b) an annoying c**t
c) just a c**t?
d) all of the above

The answer is a), b), c) & d).

5. What is a pie floater?

a) meat pie on pea soup with tomato sauce
b) pie for eating when in water
c) something you only eat when pushed
d) an example of Aussie haute cuisine

The answer is a) although some might argue that d) is correct but they'd fail and c) would have been acceptable had the quiz master not typed pushed instead of pished when he wasn't even pished.
