One goal in seven for Stirling, is that right? I thought he was away until January.

Think so. Yes - cut short, he's been recalled. Don't think it was the right move to go out on loan & its best for all parties that he's back. Time to kick on for him now, came onto a game before leaving and I'm sure he will again. Still something about him that I like.

Donnelly not involved on Tuesday night, only to be involved for Celtic u23s on the Wednesday. Can maybe assume he's gone back.

If it's true that Layne has been recalled (nothing on either website) then good luck to the lad for the future.

In my honest opinion, which I have posted on here before, he's not good enough to break into the Alloa First Team any time soon, but at least he tried his best during his time at Stirling, and that's all we can ask from any player.

Sure I saw it on the Alloa Twitter feed last night.

Quite happy to see Isaac back. I still think he has the potential to succeed at the club and with stories I've heard you'll struggle to find a player at Alloa with the dedication and willingness to put in the extra hours he does to improve.

Now it's about who's left unhappy though with Hynd and Layne back we now have 4 strikers again in the first team.

Recalled to sit on the bench again. Havn't we been here before?

The problem with Layne is that while he has some decent attributes - well he's fast - his finishing and general link play with teammates is poor. Barring injuries I cant see him getting in ahead of Spence, Longworth and maybe even Hynd.

Agreed, I don't think he is good enough to start. He could be an impact player as a sub in the right circumstances, but he doesn't want to sit on the bench. I don't think he has progressed much as a player since he first signed either. I'd give Hynd a shot as regular back-up striker for the rest of the season and look to move Isaac on in January and use the wage to get somebody else in.

If he goes into the team and scores regularly then fair enough, I'll be more than happy to be proved wrong.

You are absolutely spot on here bsd. I was at all but 1 of the games that Layne played and these faults screamed out at you (along with the fact he tended to be selfish on the ball).

I'd love nothing more than to come on here and say, you've got some player on your hands and I can't believe he's not in the First Team, but in truth, I honestly think he's someone who'll fade out of the picture and you'll not hear anything of once he leave the club. For your sake (and Layne's) I would love to be proved wrong, time will tell if I am.

I think Hynd is the better option out of the 2 (not sure why Montrose didn't play him)....but if Spence & Longworth are still as good as they were (or better) 2 or 3 seasons ago and Goodwin is only going with 1 up front then I honestly can't see Layne breaking into the First Team.

On this: why are Alloa the only club in the SPFL that doesn't have an official Twitter account?

We have had issues with our twitter page in the fact that the official page is run by a fan and he won't allow us to use it to post updates on it . We have asked several time to talk to him to discuss it and he refuses .

Can understand why he will not replied as trying to communicate is hard as constipated shite as your as thick as the big print version of the Complete Works of Charles Dickens.'

Hes already played in our first team, and likely to take part on saturday i'd say, why else would he be recalled?

Donnelly looked comfortable on the ball with a good touch, but quite surprised by his lack of real energy at times. Not every player is expected to charge around the park of course. But at a young age when you're still in the process of learning true positional awareness, I didn't see him getting involved enough to justify strolling around.

Didn't get a great opportunity at Alloa-trying to impress via fleeting sub appearances. But compare him to Greig Spence, a far more accomplished all round player in my opinion. Hope Donnelly continues to develop and do well though. By no means a bad player.
