elmo-bcfc
Pinky Campbell. Our first win came on Boxing Day IIRC, and he brought Graham Gibson back after he went to Australia ... and played him at right back.
Magnethead
Gordon Dalziel followed by Mark Roberts. Dalziel should've won the old first division at a canter with the playing squad at his disposal. Roberts is just a fucking idiot.

itzdrk
Dalziel won the league before money was thrown at him i think that is unfair
Cliche Guevara
Not really - he was given a fortune to win the Second, then the following season in the First it was an absolute farce!
ayrmad
Dalziel won the league before money was thrown at him i think that is unfair It's that unfair I didn't even go at the end of that season, if Bill Barr had shown the same diligence in finding a manager as he did poaching specialists on tendering etc we could have been anything.
Richey Edwards
He's an arse and should have achieved more with the money he had, but you've got to be out of your mind to suggest the only manager to get us to a cup final in our history (and two other semis) could be our worst manager ever. Do you think Gordon Dalziel masterminded our route to the final or did the fantastic squad (who Dalziel couldn't motivate to play to their potential in the league) achieve it in spite of him?
GordieBoy80
Being old enough to remember Munro and Scott, I would say the backstabbing b*****d just edges it. Leishman's team in 1989/90 was arguably the best ever Pars team I have ever seen but within a season Munro had chased the likes of Nicholl, Rougvie, Rafferty and top scorer Ross Jack and replaced them with utter dross such as Ian McParland and an unfit and overweight Craig Robertson (to be fair to Robertson he did work on his fitness issues after that but he was really out of shape coming back from Aberdeen).

Agreed. Not a lot to choose between those two utter c***s to be fair. Munro was always going to struggle given the circumstances, however Scott did actually have quite a good reputation when he was appointed. I prefer to blank out those years to be honest. Thankfully Bertie Paton got the gig & restored my faith in humanity.
Big Fifer
Hardly have years of experience with managers, safe to say Aitchison this season was an absolutely dreadful appointment. Hard to judge how he was tactically, mainly due to the completely inept group of players that was signed/kept on from last season. For whatever reason I never really rated Dave Baikie either. Guided us to the 3rd division title but we would have walked that with any manager considering Wullie Gray's f**k tonne of money.

da_no_1
Scott gets very slight redemption in my eyes as he signed Hamish French. True. However, he also signed Paul Chalmers & Roddy fucking Grant.

Dalziel was a choob of a manager and even nowadays when you hear him on the radio as a pundit it doesn't take long to work out he has a lack of understanding about the game. But to be fair to dalziel at least he tried to play players in their proper positions and his teams always had a bit of shape about them unlike the fuckwit we have in the dugout at present.
young buck
Simon Fucking Stainrod. Think of Dalziel's tenure with all of the cash, remove the impressive cup runs, throw in a relegation, and then two back to back hammerings against Forfar and Berwick. Add a liberal helping of Ian Gilzean, Garry Patterson, Vinnie Moore, Cameron Connie, Barry Crews,Julian Dowe and the likes and then realise that footballing life could not get any worse. Barr sacked George Burley to get that fat gobshite w****r in. Almost twenty years on and it still gets my heckles up. Dalziel was like Alex Ferguson in comparison The Ayr fans didn't exactly cover themselves in glory regarding the removal of burley. I can remember standing in the Somerset road end when everytime burley came close he was lambasted. I still picture his wee bewildered coupon hanging onto the post at a corner and the bile was so intense that he turned and looked into the crowd to look at us. He never came out for the second half and was gone not long after.
Richey Edwards
Burley was a top man, need to get him back.
airdrieman
Jimmy Boyle. Kenny Black was awful but at least he played a settled team and had a general game plan (as bad as that team and game plan were). Boyle on the other hand, changed the team every week, had no tactical sense or knowledge at all, couldn't change a game or adapt to the other team's tactics. Overall, he was just clueless as a manager.
Cambuslang Fifer
Worst manger has to be Willie Aitchison for his unexperience as a manager and lead to all these french duds to be signed to only been short term and his results while incharge at bayview too and was only appointed manager from the director who has now left the club. Best manager John Robertson and he resigned because of travel confused he supports hearts and stays up in inverness bizzare one ever since then we haven't been the same team.

Pesadilla
Would that not be Darren Henderson who played Senior football for about twenty-five years with Ayr and Stranraer? During his first few months, he brought some absolute fucking no-marks into Ochilview at the time - how about Darren Henderson, a 41-year-old left-back who'd never played senior football before? There'll be the very same Darren Henderson, on BBC Alba, about to lift the Junior Cup with Hurlford.
