Arbroath FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Allan Moore as Manager. Allan managed Stirling Albion between 2002 and 2010 and was able to take the Club from second bottom of Division 3 to the First Division. In 2010 he took over at Greenock Morton and also gained promotion for them. As a player, Allan's career spanned twenty years from 1983 and his Clubs included Dunfermline Athletic, St Johnstone, Hearts and Airdrieonians. Todd Lumsden will be joining Allan at Gayfield as assistant.

Cheers son. Hope it works out, what's your opinions on him.

He's a good manager. His record at Stirling speaks for itself, and he achieved the highest league position Morton supporters have seen in years.

His final season hampered his CV, but he still gave Morton supporters one of the best nights in their footballing history; beating Celtic in their own back yard.

He should have enjoyed that victory - as it was, without question, the best result in his managerial career - but instead, was later informed his brother had tragically passed away. It was always going to be difficult for him after that, and he was rightfully relieved of his duties a number of months later. Some will argue it should have been earlier, though.

I'll always have respect for Allan for that title push during the 2012/13 season, and for that win against Celtic. Hope he succeeds.

Really good appointment. Allan Moore was Stirling Albion most successful manager in history and gave us three promotions. Had his ups and downs of course and went on bad runs but was always able to turn it around.

Positive - Works incredible with 'problem' players. Able to get the best and sort out any players with attitude it not pulling their weight.

Negative - Awful with the media and how he comes across. If fans are on his back and he goes not believe it's right then he will say so (which of course can make problem worse)

So what went so wrong for Moore at Morton last season? Smaller budget? Lost half the squad in summer?

Start of the season in the league they had won 1, drew 2 and lost 3 before they beat Celtic 1-0 in the cup 26th September, brother passes away on the 27th and after that it all just seemed to go Pete Tong before he was sacked on the 23rd November. Maybe it just wasnt his season, must of been terribly hard for the guy in the weeks after the Celtic game, after looking at his record for the previous 12 years he does seem to look like a very good appointment.

Lets hope he does a Stirling Albion to us. :)

Renewed a bit of optimism for the new season now, will be very interesting to see who the guy brings in. Needing another 5 in atleast to get to a squad of 20 and I imagine we will do our usual with getting a few loans in too.

Cmon the Broath.

Just seen that Lumsden has been appointed your assistant manager...

I was over them moon when we get rid of him, clueless when he took over for a few games while Paul Martin was off sick and even worse when he got the managers job which he got us relegated. It appeared he lost the dressing room while in charge of us and tbh always came across as a bit of a bully, especially when dealing with some of the younger players. A lot of players don't speak highly of him either.

Maybe you will get a different guy now but I highly doubt that... Good luck with him....

The budget he was given was reduced slightly.

However, the main problem we had last season was that we lost the spine of our title chasing squad. Rutkiewicz, Tidser, Hardie and MacDonald all departed - four players who contributed to around 40+ goals the season previous, if I remember correctly - and were replaced with foreign nobodies who were absolutely hopeless.

He took a major risk that summer, and, unfortunately, it didn't work out for him. Players such as Kabba Modou-Cham, Joe McKee and Michal Habai didn't deliver despite early promise and, as a result, how he paid the price.
