He did waste a lot of money on fellaini and Mata tbf. Paid over the odds for Mata, but he will become pivotal to United in the future. Fellaini yes, Mata is a fantastic player and Van Gaal needs to build a team around him, Rooney and RVP. Ashley Young is an absolute embarrassment to Man Utd and has never been Man Utd class in his life. Sir Alex didn't get a lot wrong but signing Ashley Young was a massive cock-up. Young in his first season at United had a decent year then promptly returned to being the shite player that everyone knew he was. Quite simply United need to spend big and back Van Gaal otherwise its going to be a few years in the wilderness which they cant afford to happen.
