If he’s going to stay in the Scottish Premiership, then we should all hope he goes to Celtic.
He’d improve any other team in the league significantly. He won’t improve Celtic though. Well, not to any extent that makes any difference to the rest of us.

Tbh I’m a bit relieved. We’ve already got 3 young CH’s on the books but I’m beginning to think they don’t rate Rick as highly as they’d hoped they would.

Astley has just been unlucky that Portales and McGhee are ahead of him. He was only behind Portales until McGhee has now moved back to CB. There may be injuries and we will still play 3 centre backs at times which means there is games to play. Portales might even get a move away soon and Astley could step in.

I'm not too hung up on McCowan tbh.

Great player but we also have so much other talent. If this signing from Leicester comes off it would be a real coup and we'd still be lining up somewhere along the lines of:

McCracken

Ingram Portales Koumetio Larkeche

Sylla Braybrooke

P-H Cameron Tiffoney

Murray

The two holding might even solidify our leaky defence and allow a front four as such to flourish. You'd still have the likes of Mulligan, Clark Robertson, McGhee, Carson and any new signings to fit in.

If we recieve the right fee we'll move on with a cracking squad and i'll still be confident of a great season under Doc and the boys.

Thank you.

To be fair, we've been desperate for someone to cover/complement Sylla. He's the one player in the team we don't have a replacement for. And this guy sounds like the Boateng type to complement and compete with Sylla rather than replace McCowan or Cameron.

This x1000000

We've been at least one body short in CM, probably two, since preseason, so I don't think bringing a player says anything about McCowan because it was a necessity in any case.

We don't have any specialist replacement for Sylla, or a guy who could play the role sitting next to him in a double-pivot, which is what the new lad sounds like rather than a straight Sylla clone, and since Mulligan has been AWOL for some mysterious reason our only genuine midfielder on the bench has been Fin Robertson.

We needed at least one more versatile, quality CM in regardless of whether McCowan stays beyond next week, and I still wouldn't rule out brining in a second one even if McCowan stays even though I think we're in desperate need of another full-time, dependable fullback as well.

Mysteriously missing from the bench prior to the Hearts game, hasn't been seen or heard from since. Clearly injured, but the club don't seem to be all that bothered about informing anyone about these things. Fair enough, there is no obligation upon them to disclose anything about player injuries, but a simple "he has a knock and will miss out" is a courtesy, prevents speculation, and most other clubs seem to manage it no bother.

Docherty said himself he was injured in an interview. It might have been leading up to the Airdrie game.

It was announced during the week after the Hearts game that he’d picked up an injury on the Friday in training. They expected him to miss the next 2 weeks at least.

The Doc is saying Mulligan should be in the squad again for St Mirren and both Reilly and Robertson have a chance of being fit too

Anyone else think we need at least one extra winger in the squad since 433 seems to be the preferred formation now?

Big Seb looks like a decent option up front but I’m not convinced he’s much use at right wing. If Tiffoney went down we’d only be left with Reilly and maybe Mulligan as wide midfielders/wingers.

When it comes to sending young lads away on loan you half expect them to be coming off the bench or somewhat starting games, when it comes to keepers though is there a point to sending keepers out on loan where they are just warming a bench albeit X many miles away when they can do that here?
im seeing young Lynch has yet to have game time at Cowdenbeath , I would have thought the idea to send him down the pyramid is to make him pretty much a starter

is there other factors I’m not seeing?

The young French lad who was with (I think) Bordeaux is still on trial. He appears to be a wide player. Maybe another addition to the squad?
