Strange feeling about town.

Mmm...tying yourself to your share of trillions of debt with no conceivable way of paying it back.

And the yes campaign still couldn't convince 55% of voters to vote for them.

Perhaps, instead of blaming people who voted no, you should ask why yes lost, given the statistic you have posted. The campaign failed, what could they have done better?

Fully agree. When the dust is shaken off and the pain heals. I have no doubt the campaign will be poured over in detail.

The argument is their. At the base level Scotland is wealthier than the UK.

Message delivery and target audience are the key.

The next campaign will have to be stronger.

Date of their choosing, question framed to suit them, an apparent fantastic groundswell of support, momentum, Tory government at Westminster, austerity, activism, a bad no campaign, best politicians, voting age changed to suit them, a 3 year campaign

The yes camp had all of the above and still failed.

No Tubbs ain't. He is a dyed in the wool brit nat.

However the vast majority of that 2 million were either scared or misinformed.

Over the next months and years the steady slog to get over the facts will continue.

We lost the battle......you know the rest.

See, that's the correct attitude.

All this hatred and blaming folk for what has happened in the past is achieving nothing. If you want to actually be successful in the future, you plan had better be more than cold winters for pensioners like some are advocating.

It's ok we don't need cold winters we've got care homes to bump the c***s off.

The referendum confirmed what I thought.... That the true Tory vote is far higher. It explains why places like Perth had solid noes despite voting snp_- Tories voting tactically to keep out labour then voting no. The yes campaign of no privatisation of NHS and vote yes keep Tories out forever was never going to convince these folks to vote yes.

ward counts will tell us the real story re this I think

Quite possibly. It is an interesting effect though. I think very few people would have imagined, before the results came in, that 28 out of 32 local authorities would be 'No' and only 4 would be 'Yes'. Also, that of the 4 wins for 'Yes' only Dundee was into the higher 50%s.

There are other interesting aspects... why were Glasgow & Dundee's turnouts that bit lower? What happened in the Western Isles? What made many central-belt areas so strongly 'No' (60%+).
