Strange feeling about town.

Was out and about in a few different towns whilst at work earlier today.

Strange atmosphere nearly everywhere. People not able to look eachother in the eye.

Embarrassed smiles.

I have a feeling we are all going to take a long time to come to terms with this. Things might never be the same. Peoples attitudes to eachother are inevitably going to be shaped by how they voted. We've all seen it at work and socially. It was and will continue to be the great unsaid in the conversation.

We had the shy no. We are now going to get the shy shame.

Naturally, there will be a period of uncomfortable awkwardness... Plenty people are upset, and plenty of people are relieved - some people are angry, and some people are jubilant. There was a loud campaign from Yes, with the passion of people displaying banners, wearing badges and trying to convert their friends family and neighbours, and some of them may feel a bit embarrassed. Equally there was a quiet campaign from No, and people who didn't want to talk about their No sentiments before the vote may still not want to talk about it, or fear doing so will seem like "rubbing-it-in" or provoke a bad reaction.

All of that is perfectly natural though. It was a huge decision of unrivalled significance and passion.

Work was fine today.. good craic. Yes voters felt a bit sheepish as they'd been stupidly confident yesterday. Some embarrassed 'Aye.. well... that escalated very quickly' stuff... No voters were quietly satisfied. Really cheery atmosphere... think everyone is just delighted it is over now.

John Beattie was saying on the radio today that, as he walked around town on his way to the studio, everything seemed curiously 'flat'.

Mind you, it seems that the pish-stained auld c***s that swung the vote for no had left the hoose for the first time in a decade yesterday. They'll likely never see daylight again.

Eerily similar to myself.

Had a few phone calls from clients saying that the contracts that had been on hold were now going ahead. Don't know what brought that about.

Upbeat would be the word to describe work today. First time in a long time.

How you can go a single day without getting a punch in the pus from somebody just reinforced what a tolerant nation we are.

Yup. Overwhelming feeling of relief. Relief for the sensible amongst us that voted no and relief for pretty much everyone that it is all over.
