The Stig
The sky's appear to be getting very frisky over Kirkcaldy just now, lightning every few seconds. Quite cool to watch
DA Baracus
An absolute hoor of a storm here in Dundee with some fucking mental lightning! Just heard one of the loudest thunderclaps I ever have! Love this sort of stuff!
meanmistermustard
The lightning is incredible to see when it strikes here and the thunder is so loud. Brilliant weather to experience every now and then.
Cardinal Richelieu
Weird how we get all thrilled about tropical thunderstorms whereas on the continent, they're met with whatever the local language equivalent of "meh" is. Meanwhile, show the average Europeaner a rainbow and they'll get all excited.

dorlomin
Near record number of tropical storms at the minute (its not likely to be climate related just a bit of an unusual occurrence).

dorlomin
Super Typhoon Mangkhut, headed to make landfall in the Philippines is currently the equivalent of a Cat 5 Hurricane. Florence headed to the US will not hit with winds as damaging as some, but the rain projections put it in the same catagory as Harvey last year, there is no official designation for the flooding severity of Hurricanes though. It does look like it could cause huge damage. We currently have a record number of tropical storms reaching "named" strength globally. (couple of posts above showed 6) 50cm of rain Edited September 13, 2018 by dorlomin
