More trouble for Lord Coe

A report into the conduct of IAAF officials has a "wow factor", says Dick Pound - the man who helped compile it.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) commission investigation examined allegations of widespread doping in athletics and it led to Russia being provisionally banned from competition.

The second part of the report - held back because of a police investigation - focuses on claims against the IAAF.

"People will say how on earth could this happen," Pound said.

"When we release this information, there will be a wow factor," the commission chairman told the Independent.

"It is a betrayal of what people in charge of the sport should be doing."

And there's more on his Nike job.

"IAAF president Lord Coe is facing conflict of interest allegations after an email emerged suggesting he lobbied his predecessor over the hosting of the 2021 World Championships.

Eugene, USA, was given the event without a bidding process, despite interest from the Swedish city of Gothenburg.

The BBC showed the emails to Eriksson, who is also the former president of international police organisation Interpol.

"It doesn't look good. It doesn't good at all. I would very much [like to] hear the explanation for this," Eriksson said. "I've never seen it before.

"I would very much like to hear how could this be explained. It is a very good question to Sebastian Coe. What is this?"

Sebastian Coe in big trouble - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/36541301

"BBC Panorama has learnt that Lord Coe won the presidency of the International Association of Athletics Federations with the help of the man at the centre of the sport's doping scandal.

"The corruption scandal had originally come to light in a German television documentary in December 2014.

"The documentary reported that Russian and IAAF officials, including Diack Jr, had conspired to cover up doping by the Russian marathon runner Lilya Shobukhova, as well as attempt to blackmail her.

"Coe was not personally caught up in any of the doping or corruption allegations, but he had been a member of the IAAF council since 2003 and a vice-president since 2007.

"He was asked by MPs at a meeting of the Culture, Media and Sport select committee last year why he had not been more prominent in pressing the doping issue while he was a vice-president.

"He told them: "I was certainly not aware of the specific allegations that had been made around the corruption of anti-doping processes in Russia."

"When he was asked if he was aware of allegations against Diack Jr, the Englishman replied: "Well, they were allegations that were aired in the ARD documentary."

"But evidence seen by the BBC and the Daily Mail reveals that, four months before the German television documentary was broadcast, an email was sent to Coe containing a number of attachments detailing the corruption, extortion and bribery allegations, as well as the suggestion that Diack Jr could have been involved.

"The attachments included a detailed complaint from the agent of Shobukhova, alleging she had paid Russian and IAAF officials 450,000 euro (£356,000) to cover up her doping and allow her to run in the London 2012 Olympics."
