Dunning1874
Crawford's pressing is so important. I think in possession he'd probably be more suited to playing deeper, but his ability to press relentlessly for 90 minutes underpins the whole shape of the team. The energy he brings is ridiculous and more than makes up for any deficiencies in the front three.
The Ghost of B A R P
Crawford has been excellent, with and without the ball: exactly what we needed. He's also helped balance the middle three in ways that maybe weren't immediately obvious, leaving Gillespie to sit and orchestrate... and Blues to keep it simple (run, run, and then run some more). Starting to get a wee bit slevvery at the prospect of a better quality 'runner' in there with those two... The bonus ball, though, was the non-centre-forward emerging as the only fkn 'centre-forward' we've got while Quitongo was suspended, which has made Imrie's mind up about how to use McGrattan. Not too bothered about which two of the three (McGrattan, Quitongo, Kabia) start week to week: horses for courses (although I think McGrattan has every chance of keeping his place). Still need to sign a striker in January, so that Muirhead is an option/cover there, but we're not relying on him to turn up and contribute for ninety minutes every week... because that just won't happen. (Will also be interesting to see if Grimshaw sticks around: good if he does... but frees up some cash if he doesn't.)

A centre half must be at the bottom of our positional priorities or maybe payback for giving Dougie that opportunity to write his name in Morton folklore that famous night at Parkhead.

Rob1885
Wasn't anywhere near as bad with us last season. Him and Coll Donaldson were a solid enough pairing.

par-adise
Donaldson was very good and covered up for Efe's deficiencies. We were woeful the whole season but Efe getting sent off in the playoff was the final nail in the very abject coffin. Never a dull moment with him though, definitely an entertainer. Good luck Morton.

Rob1885
You mean like this one? This result that got you relegated? That result never got us relegated. Probably more to do with going 13 games winless at the start of the season, long before Ambrose joined.

But you fielded Efe Ambrose and he went and got himself sent off and now you’re playing against Edinburgh City and Clyde. Yuck.

The Ghost of B A R P
Efe and Dougie, true luv by both... somehow feels like it had to happen at some point. If he's not done, it makes sense (and will be entertaining); if he is done, it will just be entertaining. Bonus is Hamilton Academical FC making absolute c***s of themselves in the process...

Dunning1874
If O'Connor is going to be out for a while (have we heard anything on this?) then we clearly needed another centre back and our options at this time of year are limited. I'm not sure whether an unfit 34 year old who didn't have a good time at Dunfermline last season is actually going to upgrade on the defence we saw on Saturday despite only having one centre back in it, but Imrie has previous for turning players around and hopefully the fact he's been training means he's not needing the same number of games to get up to speed that Grimshaw did. We obviously needed more depth either way: we were one more injury or suspension away from having no centre backs available and playing Darren Hynes.
