Bundesliga 2023/24

Recommended Posts

Well, despite a couple of dreadful results to start the season 1860 have now had two decent performances in a row. They beat Hoffenheim in the Pokal and that is a great point tonight. Hopefully no relegation battle this season!

BT have done pretty well so far with the German games, some crackers.

Better than Guardiola?

He played Hazard and Raffael up front yesterday and they were occupying the same positions. In home games where they dominate possession, they should be playing Drmic and one other. Central defence poor again although were very stretched by Wendt pushing forward all the time. Stindl looks lost in midfield beside Xhaka - thought he'd be a great signing, still might be. Mainz were far more dangerous, hit the woodwork twice and could've scored another 3 in the last five minutes. Not an undeserved victory.

Couldn't have summed it up better. No idea why he had hazard and rafael up front! If Drmic is our replacement for Kruse then he should've started. No idea what Favre's plan was here!

Agreed about Stindl, he played a belter in the 2nd half against St Pauli away in the DFB Pokal but against shite like St Pauli, it should've been a walk in the park anyway.

We are struggling right now and it's scarier remembering we have champions league fitbaw tae. We need another striker and midfielder pronto! And with the long term absence of Stranzl and Dominguez, the latter probably out until next year atleast, we are short and need someone with a bit of pedigree in. Schultz isn't ready for the 1st team yet and the lad on loan from Chelsea wasn't up to much against BVB the previous week.

Yes, a centre back is definitely needed, reliance on Stranzl must be a concern, although he has long-term replacements. CL draw will be interesting. If Borussia end up in pot 4 then the group of death cliché will get wheeled out. I reckon they'll win in Bremen though at the weekend - they look poor.

H96’s poor start to the season continued with a clear 3-0 defeat down at Mainz.

Never at the races with Muto giving Mainz a 2-0 lead at half-time, then some primary school defending just after the restart put the game beyond doubt. Some slight improvement by H96 after that, but way too little too late.

Wait and see if Martin Kind (H96 President) gets the cheque-book out prior to the window closing or grin and bear it through to the winter window.

Next game after the international break is Dortmund at home, so not the biggest of chances of getting the 1sr 3 points on the board.

As regards the Coface Arena in Mainz. A relatively new (opened in 2011) stadium with a 34.000 capacity. Was a pain to get to since the Hannover fans were all met at the train station and had to walk the 4km to the edge of town whilst accompanied by ca. 70 police. Getting back was much simpler due to the shuttle buses running back to the main station.

Regular beer, plus being able to pay in cash, make it one of the more accommodating set-ups for away fans.

Busy day in the Bundesliga, with Wolfsburg being the busiest side. After losing de Bruyne to Man City and Perisic to Inter, they've signed Dante from Bayern and broken their transfer record to sign Julian Draxler for €40 million.

Adnan Januzaj on loan to BVB is a strange one, considering he's started the last few Man Utd games.
