Big Fifer
First up, Berwick. A bland 0-0 vs a team we were expected to beat comfortably. Thankfully, Peterhead are doing a great job of being just as shite as we are in the run in. Long may it continue! Big Fifer
For some reason our second last game was midweek; might have been something to do with our cup run. It was Montrose up next: f**k. Sake. We've literally lead the table since about week 3, how are we managing to f**k this up?!
Big Fifer
Hopefully Peterhead would slip up in their next game though... Of course they fucking don't. They're now a point ahead of us going into the final game. Seething mess.
Big Fifer
With 25 minutes of the season to go, the final day was going just as we'd hoped. We'd had a tonne of chances, but failed to convert. Can we hold on, and can Albion help us out!?

Big Fifer
The board, quite rightly, are expanding the stadium after our glorious season. Thankfully we're not paying for most of it, as a quick look at the finances has us sitting at £150k in the black. Most of the cup run money is gone, spent on training facilities x 2, but at some point the board must have turned us professional and I hadn't realized all my players were getting full time contracts when I was offering them. Full time in League 2 last year, glad we managed to go up!
Big Fifer
So into the next season we go, with the usual lack of transfer activity: We said goodbye to McGlinchey and Hodge, both of whom have been with us since the start, but had fallen short of the ability needed to keep a place in the side. Letting McGlinchey go left us a little short for back up at left mid, but he was wanting £200 a week not to even make the bench. Grant Chisholm AKA the snake left for Killie on a free, I was surprised not to get any compo for him in development fees or something but I'm not really sure how they work. Similar system to last year but the striker is now an advanced forward. Last season it was a deep lying forward but too often he'd have the ball, wingers attack and there'd be nobody in the box. Plus, Kenny Hodge (Ireland U21 international...) has come on leaps and bounds and it's his natural position. And I'll just leave this here. We can talk about our finances later...
Big Fifer
Survived reasonably well in the January transfer window despite the financial situation, although the board have annoyed me a bit by allowing Alan Millar a young midfield prospect to leave for a pittance. Also saw this message which as anyone who's tried this will know is worrying. I'm not sure if its a benefit that it's the fans considering the takeover or not. Hopefully anyway.
Big Fifer
So we finished 3rd after winning just 6 of our final 18 games, finishing 6 points off top. Sadly, it was not to be, and we were papped out on penalties. A bit worried, as we're £285k in the red, and the fans takeover also failed so there'll be no new cash coming in. I tried to get the club to reduce the junior coaching (approx 50k a month) but they keep saying we're financially stable enough. It's irritating as I have quite a few good players in my team now, and I can guarantee they'll be poached over the summer. I'm going to have to keep signing them onto better deals. This years intake was a poor one, signed only three players, and could do with some players other than bloody goalkeepers. Striker Kenny Hodge has also been moaning that we didn't get promoted, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave this summer.
Big Fifer
I've rattled through the 2023 season sharpish as uni starts next week and I might have to slow down with this. As per usual, nobody brought in! Nisbet, McKenna, Pettigrew and Jackson are all very good prospects, so much so that I recalled Nisbet for some first team experience with us, and Jackson is already better than our current two right backs so he'll be in the starting line up wherever we end up. Marenghi, one of the experienced guys we had at the start, wanted too much cash to sit on the bench, and he's been out for most of the last two seasons because of injury so I let him go. He wasn't good enough for the squad really anyway, it was just because our central midfielders are so shit that I kept him around. We were eventually taken over by new local investors, who thankfully don't seem that keen on replacing me. They got rid of the "bring youth through" philosophy but I got that straight back in the following day. The youth intake this year was shite AGAIN (whoever said I got jammy regens earlier, I blame you). Thankfully, the one great player this year is in the central midfield position where we're really struggling. And with just 6 games left of the season, we reached the Scottish cup 4th round, Betfred 2nd round, were papped out the Challenge by Annan and we're sitting in the playoff spots again. Edited to add: We're back to semi pro again, board came in, cleared the debts and got that that nonsense in the bin. Big Fifer
We finished in good form and ended 3rd in what was a strong league. So to the playoffs, the first game: An utter fucking disaster. We went on to draw the next leg 0-0, so another season in league 1 beckons. However, my players are stronger and the league will be weaker this time around with one of Livi/Raith going up. A few players are angling for moves to bigger clubs, hopefully we can keep hold of them. We played most of the season without Bryson, our star left winger and player of the season in League 1 last season, so with him and a few stronger loan players returning you never know next year!

Big Fifer
And it gets worse, we're baws deep in debt, board punting my best players, and now we're expected to romp the league. It's been a great journey, but one I expect will come to an end soon.
The Minertaur
Don't think I've ever seen a £34 transfer budget before
Big Fifer
So into the 2024/2025 season we go, under pressure to wrap up the league. Financially we're OK, the board keep topping up the funds to keep us in the black. As always, nobody brought in: So our current squad is this: Defensively we're very sound with reasonable back up in most positions. Lots of interest in my players though, and as I approach January I'm going to have to start dishing out the contracts. Central midfield is still an issue, so I hope Scott Fraser can fulfil his potential. Players that are cropped out above are striker Martin Irvine, Kenny Hodge at central midfield and Steve McLean at centre half. At the halfway point: We finally lost our 18th game of the league season, to Queens Park unfortunately, but we're still top. Queens Park have done the usual thing of somehow managing to have an enormous squad full of players that would never play amateur in their life, they've started the season slowly so I think we'll have a tough task keeping them at bay.
Big Fifer
With a quarter of the season to go, we're still in with a shout: The youth intake this year was absolutely murder:
Big Fifer
After a sensational run of 4 wins in our final 18 games, we ended up finishing a miserable 4th with our lowest tally we've had in the league so far Made even more frustrating by the fact our previous 58 point finishes would have had us there or there abouts, the second half of the season crumble seems to be a recurring theme. So to the playoffs, and it was to be Falkirk from the league above! The commentary said it was a "breathtaking" game but given there was about 2 highlights, I'd beg to differ. Still, all to play for in the second leg.
Big Fifer
For some reason after the P&B update I can't upload as many screenshots in one go. Anyway, the second leg. Crumbled AGAIN! 2 zip up in the first 10 minutes and threw it all away, we were lucky to cling on in the final 20 minutes if I'm being honest. I forgot to take a screenshot after ET, but it finished 4-4!! Mark Chalmers, 2nd half sub, had a fucking nightmare and scored an OG and gifted them another, so it was to penalties we went!
Big Fifer
3-3 on penalties, before regen Tony Christie of Falkirk steps up and has his effort saved by Kenny Love! Who to take the potential winner? Well Mark fucking Chalmers of course... . ..and he slotted it home to seal our place in the final! Big Fifer
And it was Berwick in the final. The first leg was at home: A bit disappointed in the end, we hit the bar at the end of the game which would have been nice going into the second leg with a lead.
