HibeeJibee
Draw for the preliminary stages is this Friday, at 3pm, and it will be the longest and largest edition for many a year - quite possibly since Victorian times - with 92 entrants and 10 rounds. Fourth Round day returns to January and the cup basically features a round a month from August to May. First Preliminary Round - Saturday 15th August 2015 15 unlicensed clubs join - 5 ties & 5 byes Second Preliminary Round - Saturday 5th September 2015 + 10 winners/byes from PR1 First Round - Saturday 26th September 2015 15 Highland League, 12 Lowland League, Coldstream, Banks o'Dee, Linlithgow Rose & Glasgow University join + 5 winners from PR2 Second Round - Saturday 24th October 2015 10 SPFL2, Brora Rangers, Turriff United, Edinburgh City & East Kilbride join + 18 winners from R1 Third Round - Saturday 28th November 2015 Falkirk, Raith Rovers, Dumbarton, Livingston, Alloa Athletic, Morton & 10 SPFL1 join + 16 winners from R2 Fourth Round - Saturday 9th January 2016 12 Premiership, St Mirren, Hibernian, Rangers & Queen of the South join + 16 winners from R3 Fifth Round - Saturday 6th February 2016 Sixth Round - Saturday 5th March 2016 Semi-Finals - Saturday 16th April 2016 Final - Saturday 21st May 2016 So let's look at the preliminary stages. These 15 unlicensed clubs - mixture of SFA members and qualifiers - play their way down to 5, who'll join the First Round proper. It's a motley crew... At the top end of the quality band you have Auchinleck and Kelty, champions of the West & East Juniors, plus strong HL club Cove Rangers who are unlicensed due to lacking a home ground. Next-up are probably EOSL champion Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale, Hermes the North Juniors winner, Harestanes the Scottish Amateur Cup holder and LL club Vale of Leithen who missed the licence deadline. Remainder comprise 3 EOSL clubs (Civil Service Strollers, Hawick, Burntisland) and 3 SOSL clubs (Wigtown, Newton Stewart, St Cuthbert Wanderers). Finally Golspie of the North Caledonian League, and Girvan. Here's hoping for some tasty ties to open the race to Hampden.

susanpab
We'll probably win this again tbh. That got me wondering whether any 'first time' winner had ever successfully defended the Scottish Cup. Looking at the list of winners, it's only been achieved way back in the 1870s! Queen's Park lifted the very first trophy in 1874 and retained it the following year. Then shortly after, Vale of Leven triumphed (1877) before winning it again the next season! So history would suggest that ICT have a hard task ahead! susanpab
When's the 2nd round draw? Cheers. The draw for the Preliminary rounds (both 1 and 2) is tomorrow. As for the 2nd Round (proper) - that'll be shortly after the First Round, in late September. (I'd imagine).

susanpab
Doesn't look like the SFA are planning on streaming today's draw live on their YouTube channel. I can't see any mention of it. Perhaps as it's 'only' the Preliminary rounds. Will just have to rely on their Twitter!
Enigma
Harestanes just 10 games away from Europe.
HibeeJibee
Better than that. As I noted on another forum... Harestanes are only between 45 - 58 matches away from becoming Champions of the World.

lowenan
Nearly a perfect draw. Thank you.
HibeeJibee
You'd expect Kelty Hearts, Auchinleck Talbot, Vale of Leithen, Lothian Thistle and Cove Rangers to come through, but a few pitfalls e.g. Wigtown for Vale and Harestanes for LTHV. lowenan
EOS or SOS vs East Junior North Junior vs West Junior SOS or LL vs EOS EOS vs Ama or West Junior North Cal or HL vs SOS or EOS The leagues really get tested against each other, and each of the five second round matches has a "top seed" in them (Kelty, Talbot, Vale, LHTV and Cove) and at least one decent challenger (CSS, Hermes, Wigtown, Harestanes, Saints). craigkillie
This year there are 15 teams playing in the Preliminary Rounds for the final 5 spots in the 1st Round. What will happen if another 5 teams get licensed? Then the 1st Round would be completely filled by licensed clubs. You could have 10/11 teams who have qualified for the Scottish Cup but have no space to enter.
