As predicted by no less an authority than myself, Crusaders match at Taylors Avenue was postponed, leaving the Shore Road men twiddling their thumbs while the chasing pack were in action.

Cliftonville squeezed past Dungannon Swifts 1-0, but deserved the points, although the Swifts had a goal chalked off. Coleraine slumped at home to Glenavon, 2-0 to the Lurgan Blues, Coleraine ending up with only 10 men, while Linfield could only draw with 10 man Ballinamallard at Windsor, 1-1, lovely chip for the Blues' goal.

Ballymena defeated relegation certainties, Warrenpoint, 4-2. Warrenpoint played most of the game with 10 men. Town pulled it back to 3-2 before being finished off. (According to my mate Warrenpoint are absolutely dreadful.)

Some game at Shamrock Park last night, 5-3 to Portadown against Glentoran.

All the goals here - apart from the Portadown game. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p03c0hx5/the-irish-league-show-14122015 *

Crusaders top with 48 points, 5 points clear of Cliftonville, both played 19. Coleraine third with 39 points from 20, Glenavon fourth 2 points further back, also from 20. Linfield fifth on goal difference, played 20, and sixth are Glentoran on 30 points, played 20.

Bottom half: Portadown seventh, played 19, points 27, Ballymena eighth, 22 points from 20, 6 points ahead of ninth placed Ballinamallard, also played 20. Dungannon tenth with 12 from 19, Carrick have 11 from 17 and Warrenpoint still have only 4 from 19.

Looks like it's between Crusaders and Cliftonville at the top, and the bottom 3 are beginning to have a bit of a mountain to climb.

Coleraine travel to Seaview on Friday, so that will be 3 (defeats) in a row, Cliftonville are away to Glentoran, I suppose any result could happen there, Linfield are at Ballymena and Glenavon face Warrenpoint. The other two Mid Ulster clubs meet at Dungannon, and there's a relegation 6 pointer are Ferney Park between Ballinamallard and Carrick, if Carrick win this they will pull the Mallards into the relegation dog fight.

Meanwhile, tonight sees the League Cup and Co Antrim shield semi-finals.

Coleraine face a tricky trip to Bangor in the League Cup to face Ards, I can see it all going breasts up for the Bannsiders, to be honest. Warrenpoint attempt to put their appalling league form behind them as they host Cliftonville in the other semi. Don't think there's much chance of an upset here.

In the Co Antrim Shield Linfield now meet Carrick at Windsor instead of Taylors Avenue due to the state of the pitch. Ballymena await in the Final.

2 up after 50 minutes, Coleraine get pegged back to 2-2, conceding the equaliser with 5 minutes to go, and, with no goals in extra time, then lose the penalty shoot out, 5-3

Cliftonville beat 9 man Warrenpoint, 1-0 with an extra time goal.

Carrick lose 2-0 and Linfield now face Ballymena in the final.

Crusaders get a "deserved" win and beat a "lack lustre" Coleraine, 3-1, to move 8 points clear. Cliftonville have a chance to reduce the gap if they win at The Oval today.

Confirming that Cliftonville go down to Glentoran, 2-0, and Linfield win at Ballymena. More interesting at the other end of the table, Warrenpoint very nearly claim their first win in 14, but end up only drawing 1-1 at Mourneview.

Dungannon Swifts get a valuable 3-1 win over Portadown, and Carrick get an equally valuable 2-1 win at Ballinamallard, so Warrenpoint end up worse off than they were before kick-off!

So, Crusaders 8 points clear and cruising it, Cliftonville second with 43 points, both played 20, Linfield third on 40, one point in front of Coleraine, both played 21. Glenavon fifth with 38, five in front of Glentorn, again, both played 21.

Bottom half: Portadown seventh with 27 points from 20, Ballymena eighth with 22 from 21, Ballinamallard ninth on 16 from 21, onepoint in front of the Swifts who have played one game less, then Carrick with 14 points from 18 and finally Warrenpoint, now with 5 but still in dreadful trouble.

Boxing day matches produce the usual derbies - Coleraine v Ballymena, Glentoran v Linfield, Glenavon v Portadown, Crusaders v Cliftonville plus Ballinamallard v Dungannon and Warrenpoint v Carrick.

Cliftonville come back from 2 down to keep the title race alivish. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35183159 Crusaders will be the happier of the two, despite throwing a way a 2 goal lead.

Linfield win 2-1 at The Oval and Coleraine halt their slide by also winning 2-1 against Ballymena at the Coleraine Showgrounds. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35183697

Glenavon win the Mid Ulster derby, beating Portadown 1-0 at Mourneview in stoppage time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35183202

The bottom four all got a point, Ballinamallard 1-1 Dungannon, the Swifts getting a late equaliser http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35182638 and Warrenpoint 1-1 Carrick

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35183189

Crusaders top, with 52 points from 21 games, 8 points in front of Cliftonville who have played the same numbe rof games. Linfield third with 43 points from 22, Coleraine fourth, one point back, also from 22. Glenavon are fifth, 41 points from 22, with Glentoran sixth with 33 points from 22.

Bottom half: Seventh are Portadown, 27 from 21, six points in front of Ballymena who have played 22. Ballinamallard are ninth with 17 from 22, a point in front of Dungannon who have played one game less, and then Carrick another point back 15 from 19 games, quite tight there. Then a gap to the tail end charlies of Warrenpoint Town who have 6 points from 21 matches.

The big game next week is Linfield v Crusaders, a must win for the Blues, not just for themselves but for the rest of us to keep the season interesting.

Cliftonville and Coleraine are both at home to Warrenpoint and Ballinamallard respectively, and should win, should being the operative word for Coleraine.

Meanwhile, Harland & Wolff Welders lifted the Steel Cup, beating Albert Foundry in the final on penalties at Seaview. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35181444

Was at the Crusaders game today (somewhat unexpectedly as travel connections worked out just right). 2-0 for Linfield and the first time I have ever seen a game delayed over a snapped in two corner flag and an incapacited linesman, who eventually had to be replaced and stretchered off. A third set of goalposts very nearly rolled onto the pitch at the end probably due to the strong winds but an advertising board got in the way. Thought Linfield were a wee bit lucky. Crusaders carved them wide open at the back repeatedly in the second half as Linfield's main man in central defence appeared to be struggling a bit with a knock picked up in the first half, but there was no finish from Crusaders to match the build up play. Skill level was reasonable and with full-time training the core 6 to 8 players of these teams could live with bottom six SPFL opposition no problem. Zero knuckledragging behaviour from both sets of fans, so definitely didn't live up to the VT failed statelet stereotype. Looks like money well spent on the renovation.
