It was a stonewaller.

Whilst they aren't always everyone's cup of tea here's what's on BBC match report:

"His acrobatic reaction suggested the hosts may have got lucky when referee Jon Moss pointed to the spot, but replays showed there was limited contact."

Sums up very eloquently what I was trying to say.

Richards was dreadful today, but by all accounts would have been better than the Aberdeen defenders today!

Good of him to at least try to talk to the fans, showed a bit of it here, apparently the Villa fans were all "Where's the passion?"

Yeah a coach tried to tell him to give up but he kept speaking to them and taking the abuse. Then after the game Villa fans gave loads of abuse to every player as they walked back onto the bus. Pretty cringeworthy all round for those Villa fans today.

Agreed. I don't mind booing after a game but they took it too far. Some of our fans seem to be competing for who can act the most annoyed. We're all pissed off, no need for that though.

Is there footage of this anywhere or was it just on the live coverage? Seen a lot of people talk about what happened but can't seem to see it anywhere.

Just seen the highlights of the Eastleigh game there. Eastleigh were on the attack when one of their fans runs on and the ref doesn't notice him, then there is a goalmouth scramble with a guy wearing a hoodie and jeans wandering about the box

Just seen that on MOTD. Absolutely superb

I don't see the problem with what the Villa fans are doing considering the season they're having. These players are well compensated for having to put up with such hassles.

People come out with this shite all the time, and they're usually the same ones who complain if players give some abuse back. At what wage level does it become okay to abuse people straight to ther face? 100K a year? 500?

There's thousands of CEO's who earn way more than any football player yet people would be outraged if someone shouted "f**k off you w****r" into Bill Gates' face.

People take abuse while doing their job in all walks of life. Ticket wardens, policemen, call centre operators etc.
