Loki
Just watched the hot shot on the ATP website of Murray's match against Mahut. A stunning forehand cross court passing shot, the angle he gets into it is magnificent. There isn't anyone that plays that shot as often and as well as Murray. Nice to see him further experiment with his serve by going for big serves on the second resulting in more double faults. It was always something I was going to do an analysis on but never bothered. Berdych Seppi might be a good match tomorrow if Seppi can bring forward his form from the Australian Open. Although Seppi hasn't taken a set from Berdych in seven years!
Mr Bairn
Seems to be skipping Monte Carlo for the second straight year. Makes zero sense to me. He also needs to play a 500 after the US open.
Loki
Seems to be skipping Monte Carlo for the second straight year. Makes zero sense to me. He also needs to play a 500 after the US open. Everyone has to play a 500 after the US Open. I would guess it will be either of the Asian ones where appearance money is high. Might elect to defend Valencia though. His other 500 events will be Rotterdam, Dubai and Queens. Allows him to miss Monte Carlo, I agree with you it makes little sense especially since it is a 1000 event. He might still accept a wild card into it. Last year he took the month of April to practise on clay. He can also use an exemption to miss one other Masters event. Both him and Novak are allowed one this year. Nadal is allowed two. Old Roger is allowed three exemptions.
John Lambies Doos
Wish he would play a wee 250 clay tournie.... one that he could win. Great for CV and would give him clay confidence
peasy23
Murray wins 6-3, 7-5 to go through. Had to come back from 5-3 down in the second set after double faulting to give Pospisil the break and he then demolished his racket.
booitsme7
Andy Murray beats Vasek Pospisil 6-3 7-5 and will play Gilles Simon in the Quarter-finals.
TheScarf
Wish he would play a wee 250 clay tournie.... one that he could win. Great for CV and would give him clay confidence I've always wondered why he doesnt do this. Perhaps he thinks it's better to play a 250 on hard to increase his chances of winning and getting the ranking points in the bag. Would definitely look good on the CV winning a clay title.
kittrad
He just don't have the championship mentality I think. I mean, he easily gets frustrated even for a single bad shot.
Tamdunk
He just don't have the championship mentality I think. I mean, he easily gets frustrated even for a single bad shot. This is nonsense, he's already won 2 slams against the best player in the world.

I mean its a long shot that he will ever win the French but to finish his successful career with no clay court title to his name would be a gaping hole imo. Pick the 250 tournie wisely and he has got great chance of winning

There are many clay court specialists that have numerous 250 and 500 events and haven't made it to the French Open semi finals twice. The two best clay court players currently are Nadal and Djokovic and he has been close to beating both of them on clay when he's played well. He was last year the only player in the top ten not to make a clay final. I dare say it could have been the top 20.
AberdeenBud
Is it really that crazy to think he could win the French if everything fell into place(ie Nadal and Djoko injured probably)? Even Henman made a SF.
Beltur
Beating a load of third rate jobbers at the Bucharest Trophy won't do much for his confidence when he's got Novak Djokovic smashing it past him at well over a ton at the semis of RG, tbh.

Elixir
Why does he just not give a shit about the smaller tournaments? He'll never be number one due to it.
Beltur
Ooft. That's a shocker that. Simon is pish these days. I've always been a fan of Simon, and he's proven that even now he's still capable of beating the best. I remember Barry Cowan absolutely slaughtering him on live TV several years back before a match against Federer. Simon went on to pump him, and made Cowan look like the massive twat he is. Good boy, Gilles Simon.
The-coo-shed
He was pish today, but he certainly did give a shit about the match going by the swearing! First serve was guff. Shame he didn't go that far in the tournament as he could have jumped ahead of Nadal in the rankings.
Loki
Gilles Simon is like a mini Murray. He plays the same way and normally has a low error count. He is usually under rated by the bookies and you can get very good odds on him to beat big servers as his return of serve is very good. A surprise to see Murray lose to him though. Simon has winning head to head against Berdych so I will be interested to see his price tomorrow.
