Widge
Jeez of all the first round matches to get. Albeit the crowd are gonna be on Murray's side and he's pretty imperious at the US when he wants to be, so he should win.

Lichtie95
I'm not sure how the Davis cup looks but can someone please tell me what I can expect to see on the Saturday? pretty sure it's doubles on the Saturday!
Lichtie95
Yeah it is - will he not be with Jamie ? aye it was Andy and Jamie's last time!! Could also see Hewitt if he's doing it as he tends to do the doubles!
SteveThePirate
Wawrinka potentially in the quarters is a stinker too.
AUFC90
Wawrinka potentially in the quarters is a stinker too. Wawrinka has been dross since the French. Wouldn't surprise me to see him red lining against Murray though.
Diamonds are Forever
Wawrinka potentially in the quarters is a stinker too. Not on current form. All the players he could have drawn in the quarter final look pretty weak at the moment. Wawrinka is off the boil at the moment, Nishikori seems to have a few fitness doubts, and the likes of Berdych, Ferrer and Nadal will be easy meat for the top 3 at the moment. If he gets past Kyrgios, which he should, I think it'll be relatively straightforward until the semis.
Virtual Insanity
Someone I work with got an email saying "There's a problem with your order" and it was something to do with 3 day tickets not working right. When she contacted the ticket factory yesterday.. they were able to give her new tickets.. in a different part of the venue, as she'd said "actually, while I'm here, the Friday tickets I have aren't in the North Stand like my Sat/Sun ones - they're Cat 3 tickets in the back corner" "No problem" they said "We can sort that - here's 4 tickets in the Cat A section for you..." Not to keep harping on about this issue but there was an article in the Herald with quotes from Viagogo who were unsurprisingly unapologetic about reselling saying it was perfectly legal (ignoring the T&Cs). Out of interest I went on their site to see what was available for Scotland's upcoming games. The site blocked me from viewing anything. Even then all I could see in the greyed out area was Georgia v Scotland. It would appear it's not difficult to deal with reselling, and it's not difficult to put substantially better controls on the sales process. If there was any accountability whatsoever at the LTA someone might actually have to answer for this.

Wawrinka is the only one though that at the top of his game (assuming Nadal will never reach his previous heights) could cause Murray serious problems in the quarters.
Loki
I am looking forward to watching Wawrinka Murray if they both make it through. They normally have great matches. The last time they played was immediately before Murray's back surgery. Wawrinka has been out of sorts all year apart from in the Slams, so he might not make it. The most interesting first round ties are Coric Vs Nadal and Murray Vs Kyrgios. The two most promising youngsters against the experienced pros. From reading the previous posts about the LTA I feel sorry for any one that went to previous ties (especially the Euro-Africa zone matches) and doesn't get a ticket for this. In reality they don't really care as all the tickets get sold.
John Lambies Doos
Anyone know if murray will play monday or Tuesday- or Wednesday(I believe some us open first rounds are played on 3rd day)? Id also imagine he will prob get night match on Louis, based on him being previous champ and having probably the most exciting 1st round clash

Id also imagine he will prob get night match on Louis, based on him being previous champ and having probably the most exciting 1st round clash It was over three days the last couple of years as they played the final on the Monday. This year it has gone back to it's normal scheduling and the final will be on the Sunday. Cilic is in the Djokovic half so they will play on the first day, Murray's half on the second day. Schedule will be out for Day 2 sometime tomorrow but I would be surprised to see Murray on Louis Armstrong for his first round. That will be Arthur Ashe for sure.

I meant arthur ashe, ie the main one. I didnt think the previous champion necessarily played on day 1 at us open... unlike wimbledon?

It's something I have always assumed just happens. Quite possibly it hasn't happened in the other slams all the time.
peasy23
Kyrgios out, Tomic in for the Aussies for the Davis Cup semi, pity, I full expected a massive heads gone from Kyrgios in front of a partisan crowd. Nadal also returns to the Spain team for the first time in two years.
Doc Sportello
James Ward beaten for the 10th consecutive match. The British team should really select Kyle Edmund ahead of him if they want to beat Australia. Who was it that said he was a top 40 player on grass again? H_B
Kyrgios out, Tomic in for the Aussies for the Davis Cup semi, pity, I full expected a massive heads gone from Kyrgios in front of a partisan crowd. Nadal also returns to the Spain team for the first time in two years. As expected John Peers not selected for Australia. Was never going to be, as I said. James Ward beaten for the 10th consecutive match. The British team should really select Kyle Edmund ahead of him if they want to beat Australia. Who was it that said he was a top 40 player on grass again? How many of these 10 matches were on grass? Good knowledge though - Kyle Edmund would certainly have a good chance of winning a singles match against Australia (hint - no he wouldn't). If we actually want to have the best chance of winning a non-Murray singles match we would pick Dan Evans.
Doc Sportello
Was it you? Do you actually think anyone who was a top 40 grass player would go on and lose 8 consecutive matches on North American hardcourts to shite like Michael Berrer and two Asians I've never head of ranked 218 and 240? Well good luck with that m8.
The-coo-shed
James Ward has had a mare of season post Wimbledon. I don't even think I would play him in the Davis Cup, despite his victory over Isner. His confidence is very low. Edmund is at least winning some matches. I wouldn't even think of Dan Evans again just yet. He is winning British challenger tournaments, nothing special.
