TheScarf
Meets Chardy today around tea time. Hopefully he'll put him to the sword quickly and efficiently. The Frenchman was a lucky loser in the qualifiers.
Distant Doonhamer
He`s out. Looked a bit out of sorts.
TheScarf
Murray was never winning that. Everything Chardy hit was perfect. A couple of times a season, Murray comes up against a guy who plays the match of his life.
Loki
Haha. Well he has earned 90 points to the 1035 he needs! Needs to make the final to get ahead of Nadal. Although Nadal could be out for longer than that. Poor result for Murray but it isn't that big a shock to be honest.
Jamie_B
Did you see the shot Chardy hit at 30-30 4-3 in the second? Murray played two or three great shots and got into the net for an easy put away. Chardy's shot hit the net cord and flipped up over murray's head, landing in play. Outrageous bad luck. Chardy was never losing that match.
Widge
It happens, every season it happens. No great problem, plus a little extra rest isn't a bad thing cause he still looks tired and given a chance to recuperate.

What a year for him if he could win it. Go Andy.
H_B
Tactical defeat for me, much as last week's withdrawal for a non-injury was. He didn't try to lose, but he didn't burst his arse to win either. Probably would have been happy to win another round and then go out.
Arthur Stramash
Chardy played great. Shortened the points, was aggressive and it worked. He played very well the previous match too. Murray was spraying shots and looked less than up for it. Looked windy on the fast court. But if he'd got to 5-5 it may have tipped back in his favour. Probably better losing to Chardy now than to one of the other top seeds later. Edited August 17, 2012 by Danish Pastry
Monster
It happens, every season it happens. Yeah, it was all about the balance between winning and testing the quad. It's a 'good' loss, if there is such a thing and it seems Chardy did play the match of his season as he got humped 2 and 3 in the next round anyway. The thing about Murray previously was that when the chances came knocking for career advancement he'd fall short, just. Now with Lendl helping him keep his body language more positive on the court and encouraging him to use the forehand as a more aggressive shot he's achieved the Olympic gold with a superb win and has a real genuine chance to win a Grand Slam. With the old Murray you'd have said this is where he'd lose 3rd or 4th round, but since Lendl I'm starting to believe he can actually win one (or maybe more). Here's hoping!
#Gary
Andy seeded 3rd is drawn in Federer's half of the draw and plays Bogomolov Jr in the first round.
StewartyMac
Tough draw for Murray. Might need to beat Raonic, Tsonga, Federer and Djokovic to win. Although he could face Feliciano Lopez in the 3rd round, which is as good as a bye.
TheScarf
Tricky opening match. Although I don't see him losing 3 sets to Bogomolov Jr, Raonic or Tsonga to be honest. Not on his best surface.

H_B
Not a good draw.... Raonic in particular is very dangerous.
#Gary
Not a good draw.... Raonic in particular is very dangerous. Raonic is of practically no threat to Andy Murray whatsoever. Edited August 24, 2012 by #Gary
dane-don
Not drawing Del Potro is the positive. Djokovic's draw is pretty hilarious though(other than Del Potro). Seppi, Roddick, Bennetau, Dolgopolov, Monaco and Wawrinka are the other seeds in his quarter. Tipsarevic or Ferrer in the semis. Just hand him a bye to the final now.
