booitsme7
Murray wins the 4th set with a bagel to win the match in 4 sets to send GB into the Semis.

AberdeenBud
Barker, fucking idiot. Glasgow in with a chance of the semi?
HibeeJibee
BBC seemed to think it was a toss-up between Birmingham and Glasgow for SF... later September will be too late for grass, and during hard period. Big opportunity but same issue again i.e. Ward unlikely to beat Aussies - so Murray must play 3 ties, 1 week after a grand slam, and gets knackered.
AberdeenBud
Surely Glasgow ahead of Birmingham?

Ward raises his game for Britain. Big crowd behind him, he's easily got a chance any of the Aussies. They're all either young, temperamental or aging. There's also not a doubles specialist between them, so there is probably no need to even play Murray. Play your double players. Dependant on seeding, wouldn't surprise me to see Britain 3-0 up
AberdeenBud
I imagine the approach will be the same, sensible, one Smith and Andy have been taking. 2-0, on you go lads, 1-1, I'll get stuck in.
AberdeenBud
Kyrgios playing in a match like that could be hilarious. Guaranteed meltdown.
Mr Bairn
Assuming Tomic and Kyrgios will be recalled Friday Murray v Kyrgios Ward v Tomic Saturday Jamie/Inglot v Hewitt/Groth Sunday Murray v Tomic Ward v Kyrgios Again we're second favourites for 3 of those rubbers, IMO
AberdeenBud
No chance Tomic will be recalled imo. He's in trouble with the police across the pond now. Edited July 19, 2015 by AberdeenBud
Widge
Kygrios against a home crowd enthused James Ward. He's liable to just lose the head entirely and combust. There's certainly no chance Tomic is getting near the Aussie squad either. I'd be very surprised if Britain don't go through, favourites for sure.

It'll come down to the doubles again. The doubles is a lot more unpredictable and whilst GB should expect to win that it's by no means a certainty.

Huge no.
faddythedaddy
It will be Kokanakkis, Hewitt or Groth who will be the Aussies 2nd singles player. We all know about Hewitt who is on his last legs but would fight for everything, he would only play 1 singles plus doubles at most. Kokanakkis is ranked about 15 places above Ward and is a great young talent, maybe not got the experience for a high pressure tie, soundly beaten in straights by Kukushkin on Friday. Groth has a huge serve but again is only ranked about 70 in the world and beatable. Ward has a chance of a point, I'd still rate him slight underdog but given the situation, form, the Aussies personnel and current situation he's in with a fighting chance. Certainly France was the harder tie. If they do win the semi I fancy they will win the final too, as long as Murrays fitness holds up
Loki
Sam Groth is another tennis player with a huge serve and not enough of a return game to consistently trouble Ward. It would be a very winnable match for James Ward. Both Querrey and Isner are better players than Groth and Ward beat them. He plays his best stuff in the Davis Cup. Tomic will not play for Australia as long as Pat Rafter and Healy are there. They don't want him to play, and he doesn't want to play. In the hypothetical situation that Ward plays Tomic. I'd back Ward every time. Tomic under the crowd pressure would tank. As for a venue, grass could still be an option, they have already looked at Wimbledon as a semi final venue. But the transition to hard court to grass isn't something that Murray would want. Personally I wouldn't choose grass as he Hewitt would love that. The Emirates arena in Glasgow again would be ideal. Certainly a great chance to make the final. Andy Murray is the best player still in it, but we can't rely on him to play three rubbers. He was exhausted today (as he was against Fognini) and it showed in his performance against Simon. A very shaky performance but excellently toughed out. Hewitt or Kyrgiois playing a tired Andy in a decisive rubber, could spring the upset. If we do get through it would be a home final Vs Argentina or an away final against Belgium. Given those two circumstances we would be bg favourites for the the final. Argentina on clay would have been a horrible draw.
Nightmare
Well that's not true at all. Ward raises his game for Britain. Big crowd behind him, he's easily got a chance any of the Aussies. They're all either young, temperamental or aging. Yep, Australia have nowhere near the quality in depth that France have as a team, so Murray (hopefully) won't need to do it essentially by himself this time. Ward has proven himself in big matches in the Davis Cup, and I don't think there's any shame in the way he lost to Simon, who has always been a pretty good player and just happens to be having a really good 2015. Would love it to be in Glasgow again. Brilliant experience watching GB beat the States there, and the atmosphere would be even better for this one.

GB played Ecuador on court1 at Wimbledon the equivalent weekend 15 years ago.biggest argument against grass is that it suits the Aussies games. They even built an outdoors grass court in the middle of their winter to suit their games, which tells you something.
