Honest Men vs Blue Toon

Recommended Posts

Thought we were better in the second half, but the ref took a dislike to Devlin with 10 mins to go and started giving everything against him. Goal came from a boy going through the back of him which he awarded a Peterhead throw in.

Should have defended it better but it didn't help the situation.

Also think McCall got his subs a bit wrong. Caldwell should have been on for Preston. Needed someone to take the ball in up top.

Totally agree with this, didn't hold the ball well enough up front all game. But then if we defend a set piece better we win. That's two home games now we've switched off right at the end.

Peterhead are a tough team to play against. Physically strong and defend in numbers, with very little space for Preston and Moore to get in behind. Agree we badly missed Adams physical presence, but for me it's the lack of pace and drive in the wide areas that hurt us today. Never been a big fan of Gilmour, but he is playing really well at the moment - think he and Trouten need to play more centrally though.

Looking at the big picture, we are a much improved side under McCall - think about where we were going this time last year...!

Credit to Peterhead, you can see why they are the only other team to have beaten Dunfermline. Very well organised and shut us down all over the park.

They went after our lack of width and, in much the same way Dunfermline struggled against us, we didn't really have a Plan B.

Thought we would kick on after the goal but far too slack at the back. Murphy was a mistake waiting to happen all afternoon and it was no real surprise when we conceded.

No damage done but a missed opportunity.

Gutted that we couldn't get the win today but tbh Peterhead were worthy of the draw. We didn't work there goalie enough and to be fair to Peterhead they defended well and created several good chances. Draw was a fair result but we really need to dominate our home games better and make Somerset a fortress.

Cowdenbeith next week at home I hope and expect better and 3 points.

About time we accepted that McLauchlan and Graham should be our CB pairing to be honest. Murphy is an absolute bombscare.

After today I would probably give Graham his shot tbh. Although if Adams still isn't fit next week not sure if I would rather have Crawford or Murphy in the middle.

Murphy overplayed on one occasion in the first half and could have cost us a goal. But to call him a bombscare is nonsense - made a good few headers and tackles and reads the game well. His distribution from the back is also an asset.

There are certain people on here who are itching to criticise Murphy, don't understand this negativity. Yes it's true he didn't have his best game but was not the worst player today. Why are there certain characters desperate to have him dropped, he has been excellent over the past few games.

Murphy has been brilliant since the end of August but today none of his tricks came off, he was caught under the ball a few times and just seemed off the pace all afternoon.

Bombscare this afternoon but not in general

I thought he was good in the first 10-15 then his performance from there deteriorated. Docherty was by far our worst performer today IMO, can't remember him finding a player with a pass, ball kept getting stuck between his feet, however just a bad game. Pass marks to Fleming, Devlin, Gerry, Crawford, Trouten, Moore and a special mention to Gilly. He's by far the most improved player at the club, becoming a really important player for us.

This. I like him but as with most of the team he was poor today. Caught on ball and under ball far too often. In hindsight possibly a bit harsh to draw him after one bad performance though. We really need to bring someone left sided in, really want him to do well but looks like Donald is done sadly.
