Trump goes after Hillary.

I'm gonna love this election so much.

The Central American gangs were mainly formed in the USA and the Mexican cartels source their guns in America due to the laissez faire gun laws. The USA is the country that has been exporting criminals and guns through its southern border, maybe the USA should be paying for the wall to protect their southern neighbours.

So, if we keep Central Americans out of the US their gangs will go away?

Organized criminal enterprises all over the world get guns if they want them. I doubt US gun laws will have much of an effect on that supply. You could argue that tougher gun laws would keep guns away from more petty criminals, but not the organized gangs.

The guy would easily be the most dangerous ruler of a Western power in my lifetime if he's elected.

The same hysteria existed with Reagan. Yawn. Pro-America patriots have rarely started serious overseas wars. It's the progressive types that get us involved in such adventures.

C'mon Mike, you've done a superb job here - but time to out yersel. You've already secured some sort of top troll award so kudos to you for that.

The hysteria in that case was justified, because we were still in the middle of the Cold War. Yuri Andropov genuinely believed that Reagan was a maniac and was about to launch a preemptive nuclear strike. In 1983, the world came within a few minutes of Armageddon when Soviet satellites started mistakenly reporting nuclear launches from American missile silos. A guy called Stanislav Petrov ignored standard operating procedures and turned the early warning system off rather than reporting it to his superiors to stall for time until it became clear it was a false alarm. That was arguably the second most dangerous moment in human history, topped only during the Cuban missle crisis when a Soviet submarine commander had to actively veto a nuclear torpedo launch when two of his colleagues wanted to do it, because the US navy was dropping depth charges around their submarine and they thought all out war had broken out. Give me Jimmy Carter compared to that sort of thing any day of the week.

Try watching stuff like Bill O'Reilly's No Spin Zone or listen to Alex Jones for a feel of what many right wing Americans genuinely believe. I don't think he is trolling as the posts haven't been anything out of the realm of the ordinary in American conservative terms.

It was Yuri Andropov, Leonid Brezhnev's successor, who was the maniac. Before becoming General Secretary of the Communist Party, he was the Head of the KGB. He was a key player in the decisions to crush the Prague Spring and invade Afghanistan. If anyone was a danger to world peace and human rights, it was Yuri Andropov. Ronald Reagan was a peacenik by comparison. Jimmy Carter was an incompetent clown.

LTL didn't say Reagan was the maniac - he said Andropov believed Reagan was a maniac.

If I've picked you up wrong, apologies.

I did not make any comment about LTL. I just highlighted that Andropov was a genuine maniac, not a supposed one.

ETA in response to Welshbairn. The Soviet Union was an evil empire. Just ask anyone who lived in the Russia, the Ukraine, the Baltic States, East Germany, Poland or Czechoslovakia (as it was) under Soviet rule.

I can understand Andropov suspecting he was dealing with a dangerous maniac after reading this transcript.

A number of years ago, I heard a young father, a very prominent young man in the entertainment

world, addressing a tremendous gathering in California. It was during the time of the cold war,
and communism and our own way of life were very much on people's minds. And he was
speaking to that subject. And suddenly, though, I heard him saying, ``I love my little girls more
than anything -- -- '' And I said to myself, ``Oh, no, don't. You can't -- don't say that.'' But I had
underestimated him. He went on: ``I would rather see my little girls die now, still believing in
God, than have them grow up under communism and one day die no longer believing in God.''
There were thousands of young people in that audience. They came to their feet with shouts of
joy. They had instantly recognized the profound truth in what he had said, with regard to the
physical and the soul and what was truly important.
Yes, let us pray for the salvation of all of those who live in that totalitarian darkness -- pray they
will discover the joy of knowing God. But until they do, let us be aware that while they preach
the supremacy of the state, declare its omnipotence over individual man, and predict its eventual
domination of all peoples on the Earth, they are the focus of evil in the modern world.

^ Ideology, including Marxism, is a substitute for religion. I pity those who think that Christianity is more dangerous than totalitarian Communism.

Totalitarism Communism murdered  hundreds of millions in the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, China, Vietnam and Cambodia. Marxism or Maoist, it is truly evil - as evil as Nazism, another variant of socialism, i.e. Nationalist.

That is fucking unbelievable.
It disnae matter who wins the Presidency, they'll all claim that Gods on their side.
In fact I'm sure ISIS claim the same.
As well as numerous other terrorists/freedom fighters (delete as appropriate).
One of my favourite sayings is...Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition...
and the sixth commandment says Thou shalt not kill

Bishop briggs you're trying to get into a pissing contest to see who killed the most folk.

You should have added to your list the catholic church throughout the centuries killing anyone they disagreed with.

They also made a decent job of slaughtering the natives in South America.

You should have added the Brits who had to have an empire at any costs.

Usually by killing the natives to teach them a lesson.

A lot of the European countries who had empires have a lot to answer for.

None of them are innocent.

And I'll bet none of them had god on their side.
