So it's a tenuos link as regards ancestry when it applies to Rangers fans but everyone should accept and recognise a Scot claiming to have Irish ancestry without question, is that what you're saying? Please do me a favour ffs, i'm old enough to have witnessed the bigotry and sectarianism from both sides of this nonsense.

If a person had a great, great grandfather who was Protestant, born and brought up in Belfast or elsewhere in Northern Ireland and was an Orangeman does that give that person, 4th or 5th generation, the right to commemorate battles from many years ago because quite simply that is what many supporters of your club are doing from the other viewpoint, no matter what date any conflict took place.

Celtic was formed by Irish immigrants predominately for Irish Immigrants and still supported mainly from families of these.

Now what is Rangers link to sectarian battles over 300 years ago and why out of all thr wars is this virtually the only one they sing about?

Can a Rangers fan answer this question, name one Scottish Catholic who played for Rangers

Why is this important to you?

Because Forever ontheglue doesnt believe it...he has a big list of proof.

Is Clownmel your more recent alias or have you authority to speak on his behalf?

When were the tired old bones of Andrew Kerins exhumed? This "Irish immigrants predominately for Irish Immigrants" pastiche is little more than 20 years old and is yet another attempt by Ra Hoops to rewrite history.

No knut had ever heard of Brother Walfrid before 1990, certainly not Sellick fans. Hagiography at its worst.

Funny how the SFA threatened to shut celtic down in 1951for flying the Irish flag and Celtic refused citing their Irish heritage...makes your last 20 years comment looke rather stupid.

This thread has turned into an absolute clusterfuck of shite

What else did you expect? À la recherche du temps perdu?

EVERY Rangers thread becomes a barrel of shite - even inconsequential match threads - because they are infected by the likes of you and the above Klingy.

Edited to include the much-banned idiot.

This Rangers fan could not give a fcuk how many catholics, scottish or otherwise played for us then, now or in the future, in fact when it comes to it, i could not care how many Jews, protestants, Muslims, Buddhists or any other religious denomination play for us, as long as Ian Black never plays for us again I will be a happy bear.

edit for typo

...and thats how this argument always ends..

Rangers fan, Rangers never had a bigotted policy with catholics for decades.

Celtic fan, evidence?

Rangers fan, eh we dont care about religion.

That's it, then. The SFA (purportedly) discussing nothing about Andrew Kerins somehow makes Andrew Kerins significant. This is how the G&Gs actually think. What a blight on humanity you and yours are.

They did.

Rangers supported Celtic and opposed the proposed sanctions against the club for flying the Ireland flag (amongst others) atop the main stand

One club and its chairman were quite vociferous in their calls for Celtic to be bagged for this, an Edinburgh club but not the one you would think and brilliantly ironic given the name of his club

Leith Athletic?
