Rovers v Forfar

Recommended Posts

Well, what a difference a week might make. Absolutely no idea how the Loons will line up. Could go all change or could just go pretty much the same as most of the season.

Obviously the board, fans and players will be hoping that the changes made give the team a kick in the right direction...we will see...

Going for an away win...just for the sake of it. Kerr Hay and Sanny to both score 3. Haha.

We'll be seeking to set right our biggest hammering of the season, and Forfar will be looking for a freshly-sacked manager bounce.

I'll confidently predict that we won't concede four goals this time, but a lack of options up front mean a lot of pressure will be on our midfield and set-piece specialist Mick Dunlop. A draw would be great result.

I hope our trialist centre forward gets a brace in a two scud win.

Who he? If it's one of the laddies from last week's bench then I'm not sure they're quite ready for a start yet.

I'll miss this and Cowden next week to go chasing sunshine in Tenerife so it will be Twitter watch for me. However, the 2nd half from Forfar up there is as good as I've seen against us this year, and I'm therefore surprised that they are where they are especially to the extent where Campbell has been "debunneted" (copyright D Herd 2015).

Injuries took their toll , or that was the excuse used . There's a good team in there somewhere , certainly one that should be in the promotion play off hunt

Hopefully likes of Baxter, Sanny and Yano get dropped, would like to see this team;

Douglas

Travis Nicoll Rose Black

Hay Foxy Hodge Denholm

(if Young out)

Swankie Martin

Swankie! He'd be first to get dropped in my opinion, the other 3 mentioned at least put a shift in for the team.

I would like to see Kennedy get a run at left back too.

I was indulging in a wee fantasy. There are centre forwards not playing for their teams who are better than those we have.

who else would we have as a goal threat? only other striker we have is Sanny and Smith who have been poor

Do you go to the games? Swankie is not a goal threat in the slightest and has been a passenger for weeks now, we are effectively playing with 10 men every week, he is a luxury we cannot afford on the park at the moment.

Smith is definitely not stepping up to the mark but Sanny has been either directly involved with almost all the goals we have scored recently or invovled in the immediate build up play.

This will be a new feeling for our men, dropping points from a winning position. We could have won but were up against a strong midfield and defence. Even when infirm and out of favour, Gemmell and Love would have done better against them than McRobbie and McBride.

I don't know how Forfar managed to put four past us earlier in the season; they played some decent stuff at times but were desperately poor in front of goal. Just as the game was starting to go stale we grabbed a goal at the perfect moment, just on the stroke of half time.

It really should have been two early in the second half when Calum McRobbie decided to have a go against an onrushing Rab D, when the only option was to square it to Josh Mullin. That would have been it. Fair play to Forfar for battling on but it took a wonder-goal for them to get back into the game- you can't rely on those every week (unless Kerr Hay is used to scoring those- he certainly improved the team when he came on for the second half.) Michael Travis remains one of the best defenders in the lower leagues.

Some people will see this game as two points dropped but I'm taking it as a chance to look at the big picture: we stay in 3rd place with a game in hand over the team on our heels, and are now 5 points clear in a play-off position at Christmas time. That is the work of genius. Bravo, Darren Young.
