Starting thread for this as it's first major of the year.

Murray seeded 2, with draw happening this evening Scottish time. Murray not really been talked about which I think is good. He will obviously avoid djokovic if makes semi, but would meet fed or Stan who are very good on the Oz hard courts. Funny thing is I think one or both may fall before semi. Other Guys to watch out for are kyrios are raoinic imo (sorry bout spelling)

Special mention to Hewitt in his last tournament. Former grand slam champion. I expect Murray to do well with a good chance of final. Djokovic should win if stays injury free. Usual suspects in ladies draw with past Oz open champion azarenko finding form.

Looking forward to it

James Ward is out of qualifying but Dan Evans made it through to Round Three, one more win and he will make the main draw. Young American Taylor Fritz is also through to the final round of qualifying, he'll be a player to look out for in his first few slams, a potential for upsets. As might Hyeon Chung and Alexander Zverev.

Genie Bouchard who had an absolutely horrendous 2015 looks to be picking up form again. Azarenka looks absolutely devastating currently, with Williams and Sharapova both nursing injuries I would certainly be looking on at her odds shortening as the tournament progresses, although she could get a horrendous draw.

Murray played three singles matches at the Hopman Cup and you can't really tell what he's done in the off season. He lost to Kyrgios, but he never left first gear whilst Kyrgios played as well as he could have. Looking forward to the draw.

Dan Evans makes the main draw after winning his final qualifying match. Taylor Fitz wins the last six games to recover from a double break in the deciding set. Their opponents will be known later on today when all qualifiers have been completed.

I signed up for the Eurosport player solely to watch the Australian Open. 6.99 for a month and HD streams of every court. Well worth it for the month.

Just started watching Kyle Edmund on court ten.

Edmund wilted, could barely get it over the net in the fourth and fifth sets, and his first serve in went from 60ish to about 30ish in the last two.

Heather had plenty of chances to win that game. Played superbly down a break to get a break back, and then her game was littered with mental errors to surrender the break. Stopping play for a ball when down a break point, and also leaving a ball that she thought was going wide when she could have played an easy volley.

Disappointing but not unexpected from them both
