That would be risky and could backfire. Voters don't like being forced to vote again only months after a national election. They could blame Labour for the challenge.

This.

Labour shouldn't be touching the mere possibility of another election with a 10 foot bargepole. The #scenes would be outstanding if they do force another one and lose a few more seats as a result.

Much like the "you'll never get a majority" thing in Scotland, it seems that whoever came up with the Assembly plainly never thought it would be anything other than a Labour echo chamber and so the matter of what to do in a tie simply never came up. Fucking imbeciles.

From the looks of Welsh Twitter right now, it seems most of Labour's lot there are Hothersall-esque brain trusts as well.

BBC reporting that two UKIP AMs, Nathan Gill and Mark Reckless, are preparing to back Carwyn Jones in next week's repeat vote.

Bit awkward for Labour after everything they said yesterday about Plaid having UKIP support.

Mark Reckless as in the bloke that was a Tory MP who defected to UKIP then lost his seat? That Mark Reckless? He's still a thing?

I think he then moved to Wales purely to get into the Assembly.

It's worth remembering Labour don't need a deal with or the endorsement of any UKIP or Tory AMS. One solitary abstention is sufficient. Abstentions on First Minister votes have been common at Holyrood.

Yup. I remember in 2007 there was some speculation that the Libs and Cons would vote for Jack McConnell but in the end they just sat it out and allowed Salmond to win

Aye.. 200 votes in Millport won it for the SNP.

Salmond declared victory. Rest is history

Will be remembered as a watershed day for centuries to come

48 votes. And there were hundreds of wasted ballot papers (probably labour since stupid people tend to be labourites)
