Delighted the boys signed the deal right enough, a real talent. I've no doubt he's an astute coach, but if that's how he delivers instructions to the players it's no wonder they're not being carried out the way he wants, poor cvnts probably completely zone out before he gets to the punchline. I’ve said this before. It’s also no surprise the players look unfit. A 3hr training session is probably 2 and half hours of him talking and 30 minutes fitness and ball work.

Tbf Steve Clarke made it perfectly clear he was aware of the situation but if Gunn and Gordon are injured you eventually have to pick someone... you're certainly relieved we were qualified before it came to it mind
well fan for life
The drop off between Gunn and whoever gets the shirt is quite something. I'd probably take Gordon with one leg over either of Clark or Kelly.
capt_oats
Looking at Morecambe's statement about Adams leaving I noticed the last paragraph... Is that the Ged Brannan? Edited November 20, 2023 by capt_oats

I know it didn't end well - not much from that time did - but I really liked Brannan. His goal against Hearts in the cup is one of my all-time favourites.

Desp
The only time in my life I've ever had a Motherwell player's name & number on the back of my shirt (and I'll be honest lads, I don't see that stat changing) was "Brannan 5" on the 1998-2000 away shirt. He was a player.

Who knew there was a market for such things?!
crazylegsjoe_mfc
The full game is on YouTube if anyone is interested in reminding themselves. I remember all the chat of us beating the holders being reminiscint of 1991 etc. I was the mascot in the following round against Stirling Albion. My favourite player in the program was Spencer and the other lad's was Coyle. Spencer gave me £5 as a result, which I was buzzing about. My appreciation of his generosity heightened by the fact I didn't understand he was on 10k a week plus a house and car when I was 8.

I certainly wasn't going that far given the strength of Rangers at the time but I definitely had high hopes of Hampden...the performance in the home qf v St Johnstone was one of the all-time great shittings of the nest. From memory Coyle had pushed through a transfer just before and when you now read some of Nevin's tales/excuses from the era it's clear where the wild swings were coming from.
