Must find it again. Have you read The Miracle of Castel di Sangro? I've not but it's been on my Amazon list for ages. I'll get if for summer holiday reading. I'd also recommend 'Calcio: A History of Italian Football'. It's a bit of a slog in parts but it's comprehensive and fascinating.

We've got two keepers determined to chuck the ball in the net any chance they get, one of which potentially has a problem with drink with some suggesting he's playing pished Stryjek certainly looked like it last night and Konovalov wants out according to some. Esma is fat and can't last 30 minutes, Hamilton is out injured as well. Anderson carrying an injury can only handle 45 minutes too but if he's fit he'll hopefully carry us far enough if he doesn't get sold off at the last minute. You've got TWO goalkeepers? Luxury.

Can we just dye the hobbits hair and pass him off as Tony? Not that I really want to keep Gallagher, he's suspect as f**k.

If he does leave we'll surely bring another LWB in, seeing as Booth is still ages away. Surely.
SJFCtheTeamForMe
All just rumours I know but if he was indeed to leave yet another episode for the St Johnstone shambles signing show. Brought in for a decent fee to then leave without barely kicking a ball. (Although could return after the loan) Edited July 13, 2022 by SJFCtheTeamForMe

Davidson would just shoehorn Murphy in at wingback if Montgomery got injured.

If it does happen then we're almost definitely having a game with Brown at LWB and Gilmour at RWB.
Radford
Davidson said the other day that Gallacher was seeing a specialist this week... After which he'd be able to fully weight bear on the broken leg. Fans often say they'd be better off with a guy with one leg but they'd almost literally be getting that. Definite crossed wires. Surely.

mizfit
Airdrie fans think they're getting Tony Gallacher on loan. He’s still to return to training, and Booth out for 10 weeks. Not a chance.

Yes it does drag in bits, but it's worth sticking with I think. BTW Tim Park's other (non-football) books on Italy are good too.

If they're heard they're getting a wing back maybe it's Gilmour? That's what he is now, apparently.

Had to double check that - feels like its been a lot longer than that

Had to double check that - feels like its been a lot longer than thatSure it was quite a bad break he got. Would make sense if it’s had to be operated on before having a cast fitted especially for an athlete. Shame as I think he was away to take Booths spot off him.
nelsjfc
So we've started a season with one fit wing back and one mobile ball playing centre midfielder in a formation that relies on both of them? I had a bit of confidence returning when Considine and Wright came as it looked at least we were targeting the right areas. Murphy and Carey, and Max's emergence, allows a return to the front three. I don't even have a problem with the shape with the right players in it. Problem is we've not fixed the issues from last season. Doesn't matter about the rest if you don't have the midfielders to keep the ball and press the opposition nor have wingbacks that can carry a threat. Being an injury away from having Gilmour and Brown as wingbacks is shambolic tbh. And christ knows what we do is Hallberg isn't able to play every minute this season. AND that's before we get to the lack of replacements for Clark and Hendry. The club financially can't really be treating the League Cup as friendlies anyway. If Davidson really is, it would be nice to tell the fans paying. Only benefit of these experiments is that they might hasten the exit of Gilmour, Crawford and MoH although I'm not convinced well replace the last two with anything better.
